Tracey’s Hot Picks In The Down East for Friday, May 20, 2016

Great day groovers, we have arrived at yet another finally Friday!!! We’ve survived the grind and now it’s time to start thinking about where we are going to gather for fun and frolicking with friends.

There are a lot of great choices all over the place; so I am going to bring you around the region before touring you around town.

Exciting news is now happening with my friend Jeff Young and his sleazy rock project, Last Call Messiahs. They are based out of Raleigh and tonight they are heading to the south coast of NC. They will be rocking Patches Pub in Wilmington tonight before heading back for two shows tomorrow. They have a new release and merchandise available. If you are a fan of heavy rock with amazing guitar leads, you can’t go wrong with LCM.

Looking at other shore options around the Crystal Coast communities; you can find Six Pack of Gentlemen at Salt Ultra Lounge in Emerald Isle from 8:30-11:30.

Local trio Casablanca will be performing at Cru Bar & Wine Store in Beaufort this evening from 7-10PM

Over in Swansboro you can hear the amazing guitar works of Justin Castellano live at Boro Cafe from 7-10 PM.

Heading to Morehead City, NC; be sure to enjoy dinner with New Bern’s own romantic guitar groover, Ed Ward, who is live tonight at Bistro By The Sea from 7-10 PM.

Over in Jacksonville, another New Bern talent James Ford will be appearing live at The Marina Cafe from 7-10 tonight.

Looking toward Pamlico County, you can head to Gary’s Downeast Seafood in Arapahoe, NC and enjoy dinner and a show with Ken Belangia from 7-10 tonight.

Silver Creek, a duo from Pamlico County will be rocking souls at The Silo’s Little Red Rooster from 8:00 on over in Oriental, NC.

Looking to the West, TrainWreck will be performing at The Red Room in Kinston, NC. That show gets started about 9:30. This is a great room. If you have not been there yet, be sure to put it on your places to check out. I like the industrial feel of the place, the seating is cool and the sound is pretty amazing as well.

Over in Ayden they are hosting  “Kings of Q” BBQ  Cook-off and Festival this weekend. That gets started tonight and goes through tomorrow evening. On the bill this evening you can check in with Eli Craig Band, who take it to the people at 7 PM.

Taking a look around town, tonight is one of the final performances of Young Frankenstein. Showtime is 7:30. This adult comedy was wonderful and the production was top notch. From the actors to the music, it was one of the best show I have seen at The New Bern Civic Theater.

I heard more rumors that the deck party at Double Tree is back in action. I can neither confirm nor deny this, however if not…there are a lot of great music choices around town tonight.

Jenna Leigh Huff will be performing live at The Brown Pelican, on Broad Street. 6:30-9:30 is show time.

Over on Middle Street, Bruce Lynch will be rocking The Thisty Bruin from 8-10:30 tonight.

Down on Front Street Bear Town Market  offers Collective Soul live in the Beer Garden. I do not think tickets are available any more for this one.

Heading over to Trent Road, Steel Shot will be live tonight at Mickey Milligans. This Pamlico county duo are a lot of fun so get ready to dance.

Over the bridge and not too far away you can hear Rick Huff live tonight for the opening bell. He will be playing at Triple Play Restaurant from 6-9. Following his set prepare to party with Zen Pirates who will take the stage about 9:30 until closing.

Well kids, that’s the scoop and where ya can go and what you can do. Just remember to always be kind to your servers, bartenders and please feel free to tip the music makers too.

Thanks for reading. Be safe and party responsibly.

Rock on!
