This Music Business. Class Is In!
Develop Your Major Marketing Skills with routine
There is no better way to get your message out there than with positive self-promotions. Back in the day, we used to compile pages of press clippings and write up a fancy bio and package them into tidy press kits to make people notice our accomplishments. The press kit has come a long way with the help of the internet and the development of social media.
Your social media pages can serve as your resume and bio. Keep it positive and upbeat. Give them something to see, a reason to visit your page to learn more about you.
Establishing A routine That works for you
You can set your phone up and record yourself daily… offer your fans a song and a message to greet them each day. That simple practice will groom you in many ways. First and foremost, it will give you the drive to get up and get ready for the day, like you are on a mission. This is because you are on a mission! You are on a mission of sharing music, bringing happiness and offering inspiration.
At the end of the song, you can add a plug for your next upcoming gig and then tag the venue in the post. This promotes you and the people you are working with. And it establishes routine fans can enjoy and look forward to each day. And speaking of upcoming gigs, consider going live for a song or two at the start of each show. This requires you figuring out a place to set up your phone so that we can see you and enjoy a part of the show.
If you establish simple routines like described herein, you will build a fan base with slow and steady ease. It will also keep you present in the minds and hearts of your fans, who will want to come to see you live thanks to your encouragement! Now go get camera-ready and send us out with a positive message and a smile! CLASS DISMISSED!

ASK THE BLOGGER
Victor Speight, Jr reached out this week and asked, “Hey Tracey, where do I find all the pics you take?”
Well, the real answer to that question is, “No one gets to see them all, nor does anyone want to. I am often confused as a photographer because I carry a camera everywhere, but really I am not a professional photo taker.”

However, when I do catch a break and snap a good one pic from time to time and when I do, I post them right here. I use the pictures I take in the field to help support the stories that I share.
Thanks for asking! If you have a question for me, fire away. You can send your questions to ncmz.live@gmail.com.

Kudubai, Fri June 7th, 9-12 PM, $3 Cover. Kudubai are a five-piece band from Morehead City, NC. They have been performing in the area since 2010—playing a mix of original and eclectic cover tunes. The main thing to expect at a Kudubai show is variety, as all five members are multi-instrumentalists and singers. The music is a blend of rock styles and is often a little quirky, involving unique combinations of guitar, bass, Afro-Latin percussion, horns, banjo, accordion and more. While the membership of the band has fluctuated over the years, the two founding members are still strummin’ and pluckin’ away. The band’s present arrangement has them playing their most fun and creative music to date.
