Tracey Stones Productions, LLC is seeking interns. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning how to promote bands and businesses through social media. I am seeking creative minds to help me develop a music promotions business.
I offer photography services and seek someone with photoshop skills. I develop websites and seek people interested in graphic design and web design. I am interested in bringing communities together with music and need to start a campaign to introduce myself to these communities.
I do interviews and live photo stream and need help developing those opportunities and I need assistance with film editing work after those interviews are complete. I write band bios and promotional blurbs, I write and publish a weekly blog which I’d like to grow into a daily adventure. I write pages for websites, I write letters and emails often and because of that, I also need editors, many eyes are welcome!
I help book and promote venues and I work with many bands to help meet those needs and demands. This is where there the opportunity to make your own money while helping us build.
There is a lot of work that needs to be done. But there is also an opportunity to learn and grow available for anyone interested. I need students and eager participants who wish to see this blog expand and develop into a wonderful music connection site for all of NC. I am also interested in building a team that can help me deliver to the Down East Region of North Carolina.
If this post got your attention and you’d like to be a part of the build please send me an email. I would love to hear how you can fit into this great build. Send me an email today. Tell me what you can offer to help me grow and I will consider your request to be a part of this major build. I promise all interns, I can clean my own bathroom and make my own coffee. I am inviting you to be a part of this because I would like to use your mind and ideas to grow! Music enthusiasts and creative minds are welcome! Thanks so much for your consideration. I hope to hear from you soon.
One of the great opportunities this blog has led me to is promoting venues and musicians by way of booking entertainment. I am not a big fan of the booking side of this business. It is a hectic hustle. Though I am cut out for all of that, I prefer using my time for fluff and fun promotions, like writing about the bands and motivating people to dance when out on the town! However we all must survive and the music must thrive.
Though it is not my favorite part of the business, once you become a part of the scene you notice the greatest demand is still on finding good booking agents on the local and regional and probably even national scene too. It’s the most hated job in the business. I know the reason. It is a major racket and hustle , it is the sales side of the business and a lot of people hate selling themselves and often sell short of net worth! In doing this job you have to count on everyone keeping their word, and we know how that can be! The best booking agents use contracts. I am working my way to getting those things in order. Lots of things happen quick in this circus ring we call the music business, so one must be organized and ready to roll.
One of the first bands I came upon when I moved back to New Bern was Big Jim Kohler Blues Band. He hosted a blues night each Thursday at a club that has since closed . It was 2013 when I first made his acquaintance. From the first blues progression to the last guitar solo of the night, I happy as could be. With a deep trail in my past full of blues knowledge and appreciation, it was wonderful to meet Jim and his wife, Kathy Kohler upon my return after a four year departure from the area. (Sounds like I went off to college and came back…Hardly, I can assure you, but, I did get an education on people and lived in Canada and Louisiana. while I was gone.)
Since our first meeting we have become close friends and now I do all I can to promote and book the band. I find they have a lot of soul that runs deep on the history of blues music. Kohler is as authentic as any artist coming out of Chicago back when Buddy Guy first got to town. That was not yesterday, ya know. His Chicago style blues bring his experience and life to the stage for others to admire and appreciate. His guitar will make you pay attention and if he catches you slacking he will unleash his wife on you who will sing to you like no one has ever done. This woman can take you to church or make you sit down and cry!
Rounding out the rhythm section we find the talented time keeper, Freddie “Boom Boom” Scungio behind the kit and James Ford keeping the groove in the pocket on bass. Often they surprise the audience with a guest on harmonica. I have seen Matt Miller show up a time or two and Mark Heffington who often bangs it out.
Tonight this band will be sharing their blues this war July evening as the sun sets and the moon rises over New Bern tonight. Find them on the patio from 8-11 pm at The Harvey Mansion, located at 221 S Front Street, New Bern, NC
I caught up to Bruce Lynch recently when he jammed at The Thirsty Bruin. Tonight friends and fans of the talented strummer can get down and groovy with him at The Brown Pelican located at 411 Broad Street, New Bern, NC. He will be offering the music you know and love between the hours of 7 and 10 pm. Come enjoy a cold beverage and dance your cares away. This show is free!
Probably one of the best things that happened to my life in the past year was meeting Adam Hill. Since that day in mid July last year we have stayed busy branding and promoting his first featured solo endeavor. He has taken the steps to find the right band mates so to bring his own music into the strong set list of rock n blues and sometimes country favorites.
He is an incredibly gifted talent that has been very busy making his way through life, providing for his family and holding close to his dreams of playing guitar for a living. Seeing his commitment to his own project made it easy to find inspiration. I just had to listen to his original material to find all I need to stay! It delights me more than most things to know I am having a part in launching his career. He deserves to be known to a greater audience. He has many gifts and songs to share with this world and I know you will be impacted by the delivery, the depth of content and the sheer destruction Hill on all his songs.
After some personnel changes early on into our meeting, it would come down in late February that The Adam Hill Band featured, Hill on guitar and vocals, Gordy George on bass and vocals and Cecil Pittman, Jr on drums and vocals. Since then they have been covering amazing ground throughout the state.
We have been a part of a couple of radio engagements in the Jacksonville with John Jones and Music Monday. We have another radio show coming up where you can hear Adam perform live in studio next month when we travel to Hillsborough NC to talk to Will Baker his music and my blog. That show will take place on August 7, 2017 on 104.9 FM out of Hillsborough, NC. I will of course share more info on this as the day approaches and you can keep up to speed with all things Adam Hill by logging on to his website. Adam Hill Music.

Tonight they will be rocking the fans and new friends they meet along the coast tonight when they play at Off The Hook this evening from 9:30 pm til 1:30 am Located at 105 S 7th St., Morehead City, NC; this stop makes a great choice for dinner and music after. I always find time to catch up with Hank Barbee. Last week I found him jamming with Jill & The Authentics which he does a few times throughout the year. The time before that I caught him for a few songs at Swanfest before the rain chased us all away. That was actually quite an amazing band he brought with him. Featuring bongos, drums, keys, saxophone, bass guitar and of course guitar leading the way! The Dust Parade was thick with talent and sounded fat and full. Unfortunately like many NC gigs outside, the weather does present an issue and that lead to a short show.
For friends and fans looking for Hank Barbee tonight, head out to Snapperz Grill & Steam Bar located at 3710 Arendell St., Morehead City. He will be playing from 6-9 pm and makes a great choice for music and supper!
Next week Barbee will be heading to the Bern for 2017 Bernaroo Arts & Music Festival going on throughout New Bern next weekend. He will be live with his Dust Parade in the Isaac Taylor Garden located on Craven St., with a full and fun band to groove you into the festival spirit. He will end the weekend in New Bern with an appearance at The Harvey Mansion located at 221 S Front St. That performance is from 5-8 pm next Sunday, July 16, 2017. Barbee has lots of new merchandise to share with fans so while visiting with him at shows be sure to check out his merch display. He has a new disc, Son Royale and new shirts too. To see all that he offers visit him on line at Hank Barbee.
The last time I caught up with the talented stringer, Justin Castellano, it was the end of last month and he was jamming at Marina Cafe on a Sunday afternoon. He was the Sunday funday special along with the free pig pickin offered to patrons on hand to enjoy the day! He will be back at Marina Cafe 110 S Marine Blvd., Jacksonville, NC this evening from 8 pm til 12 am. Come enjoy some great music and awesome food tonight J’ville.
For friends and fans in the New Bern, NC area, you can check out this player on Sunday live on the patio at the Harvey Mansion from 5-8 pm. For anyone who has yet to hear and meet Justin, be sure to make time for him soon. It’s always a great treat to watch this skilled play lay into his craft.
To keep up to speed with this player and in tune with all his dates find him on the web at Justin Castellano.
