NC’s Best Live Music Regional Rundown! June 1-7, 2016

It’s pretty exciting to walk about and discover the world around you. For as long as I have lived here in New Bern, people (myself included) would complain, “There is nothing to do around here!” ¬†Just for the record, after devoting a little bit of time to finding out our options, I see there is plenty to do. In fact, there is a plethora of ¬†fun and excitement awaiting anyone ready for action!

There are many options almost every night of the week…so without further ado; let’s have a look around.

Starting out tonight Wednesday, June 1, 2016  local boys, Steel Shot  (photo above) will be taking their show down to The Trailer Bar in Surf City, NC . They get the fun going about 7 pm for that performance. This duo features Shawn Mitchell on guitar and vocals and Jeremy Lowery holding down the beat and adding vocals too.

The Pamlico duo will be around these parts for the rest of the week. On Thursday, June 2, 2016, you can catch them at¬†Halftimes Pub & Grub,¬†from 8-11 pm, right¬†¬†next to the CVS on MLK Blvd in New Bern. On Friday they will be closest to their home when they play at The Silos Restaurant‘s Red Rooster Bar¬†live and rocking at 8 pm. On Saturday they will be at¬†Camp Caroline for a show that starts at 4 pm.

At The Icehouse  Restaurant in Swansboro tonight, you can enjoy great food and the sounds of Scearce & Ketner  from 7-10 pm

The other option for tonight is guitar man¬†Justin Castellano ¬†(Pictured below) who will be¬†¬†appearing live at Rucker John’s in Emerald Isle, NC from 6-9 pm. This weekend you can catch this six string Casanova at Bistro By the Sea in Morehead City. This is a great option if you want to wine and dine a date. Good food, great tunes…it’s a sure hit. On Sunday, June 5, Castellano will be performing at Queen Anne’s Revenge in Beaufort, NC from 5-8 pm.

For those heading west of state, you can check out¬†Cuz’n Kirk’s Blues Band¬†at¬†Whitley’s Bar B Que¬†in Murfreesboro, NC from 7-10 pm. This night features a pause for the cause as they support Senior Student Recital. Sounds like a great family night. Red hot blues and wing night too!

As you can see by the picture above another fun time found in town every Thursday is¬†John Van Dyke¬†with his Vintage Jazz and Blues Jam (Photo above) at Christoph’s on the Water, inside at the Double Tree. I stopped out last week to have a listen to these cats and it was a great time featuring some fine music. You can check them out as they jam each week from 8-11 pm.

Live at Persimmons Restaurant is the kick off of a weekend long Parrot Party with Randy Knight live playing the best of Jimmy Buffet, as he gets ready for the big party on Friday at the Farmer’s Market. More on that in just a second. Sounds like dinner on the deck is a great option for Thursday to me!

Also in happening in town weekly over at The Brown Pelican on Broad Street you can come down and jam or just check out the Open Mic from 8-11 pm. Lots of talent lives in this town and I have seen much of it at this sweet watering hole.
