Starting out to our north, Ronnie McDowell will be performing at the Turnage Theater this Friday. Located at 150 West Main Street, Washington, NC. Having a look at things over in the Greenville area…The Limits will be performing live at Tiebreakers Sports Bar & Grill located at 1920 Smythewyck Dr., Greenville, NC. They are heading to the city with a new band and ready to rock you this Friday from 10 pm til 2 am.
Mercy Creek will offer their edgy earthy music, that mixes up the folk sounds we all know and love. They have an aggressive edge to their picking and playing. Be sure to check this duo out on Friday when they perform live from 8:30 til 11:30 pm at Villedge Wood Fire Kitchen, located at 207 SW Greenville Blvd., Greenville, NC.
Parmalee will be at Minge’s Coliseum Friday night for a benefit flood victims here in the east. This event is being hosted by 95.7 FM WKML and here is what I found on there event page:
All net proceeds from Parmalee’s 2nd Annual Feels Like Carolina Homecoming will benefit victims of Hurricane Matthew in the band’s home state.

Robby Quinn will be the host of Artsongs Family Night. This event is great fun for the whole family. Admission is $15 per family. You will all enjoy great music, sweet treats and make a stained glass picture . This is all happening at Gwendy’s Goodies located at 514 2nd St, Ayden, NC. This event takes place from 7-9 pm and sure to be fun for the whole family!
There is an open mic night taking place at Cindirene’s Tavern, located at 559 3rd St., Ayden, NC. All are welcome to join in the fun. Sign up starts at 7 pm and music moves you from 8-11 pm.
Taking a look at things going on in the western part of the state. Did you know it is time again for The Joe Hippy Hoe Down? This is a two-day event that will be going down at Little Creek located at 3759 Vernon Ln., Snow Camp, NC. Here are the details I found on the event page:

Runaway Gin, the touring Phish Tribute band will be making a stop at The Pour House Music Hall, located at 224 S Blount St, Raleigh this Friday. They will be rocking the room from 10 pm til closing. Here are the details I found on the FB event page for this show:

With over 200 shows under their belt, Runaway Gin is the World’s Most Active Phish Tribute Band. They play most Sundays at the Charleston Pour House and tour often. On July 4th, 2015, after the second show of the Grateful Dead GD50 run, Runaway Gin sold out the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago and catapulting them from a Southeastern regional act onto the National scene.
The members of Runaway Gin are long time Phish fans who have united with the goal of creating musical moments inspired by Phish. The band’s song list is constantly growing, their improvisational and communication skills are constantly developing, independently and together. Like Phish, Runaway Gin will never play the same show or jam the same way twice making every show a unique experience and every moment pure artistic creation.
Live this Friday you can catch the Hip Pocket Band when they perform at The Red Room, located at 220 N Heritage St., Kinston, NC. There is a cover charge at the door and music starts at 10 pm.
Steel Shot will be the duo on hand to rock you at Gary’s Downeast Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar, located at 7610 Highway 306, Arapahoe, NC. They get the party started at 7 pm with their offering of 80’s music to modern rock. Come on out and have fun with this talented duo featuring Shawn Mitchell on guitar, Jeremy Lowery on bongos and featuring both on vocals.
Hank Barbee will be live tonight for the dinner crowd live in the Boat Bar at Snapperz Grill & Steam Bar located at 3710 Arendell St. Morehead City, NC. He will be getting his groove on for those looking for some live music with dinner from 6-9 pm.
Blu Sky Crying will perform live this Friday evening in The Garage Bar @ Harrika’s Brew Haus, located at 911 Cedar Point Blvd., Cedar Point, NC. They get the party started at 7:30 pm and keep the music flowing until 10:30 pm. You are invited to come enjoy the rock and blues sounds of this fun band featuring Justin Abood on lead vocals, guitar, harmonica; Brian Maskell, vocals, guitar; Lee Hodge on bass and Russell Harper vocals, percussion.
4EverAll will be performing live this Friday at The Cru Bar & Wine Store located at 120 Turner St., Beaufort, NC. They play lots of great familiar songs and add chemistry to each show as well. If you have not seen this talented duo, be sure to have a listen. They will rock the room from 8:30 til 11:30 pm and this show is free.
Justin Castellano will be appearing at Bistro By The Sea, located on Highway 70 E in Morehead City, NC. He is scheduled to perform from 7-10 pm on both Friday and Saturday. This man is one talented player that gives up a great show to anyone in attendance. He is very interactive with his audience and enjoys performing. His style is rather unique and his ability puts him in a class by himself. Be sure to catch Castellano sometime soon.
Ed Prophet will be performing this Friday at Boro Restaurant & Bar located at 109 N Front St., Swansboro, NC. This player gives a great show featuring all your favorite tunes. He will be rocking the dinner crowd from 7-10 pm. Come on out and enjoy some great grub and awesome entertainment.
Cheri Moyers returns to The City Laundry located at 901 Pollock St., New Bern, NC. She will be singing many standards and show tunes, on stage from 7-10 pm. If you have not heard this angel sing, be sure to stop by to have a listen. I met Moyers a couple of months ago, she was hosting a fundraiser for a new local chapter for the National Federation for the blind. Loosing much of her forward site, Moyers only has peripheral vision. This loss of sight has changed many things for this singer. One of the wonderful things that occurred in it all, was her return to the stage. She has a beautiful voice.
Looking for some raw emotions and amazing talent? Be sure to stop down at The Brown Pelican located at 411 Broad Street, New Bern, NC. That’s where you can find James Ford giving up his great jams from 7-10 pm.
Rick and daugher Jenna Leigh Huff will be giving up the grooves at Triple Play Restaurant located at 111 Williams Rd., New Bern, NC. They will be performing their acoustic show from 6-9 pm for the dinner crowd.
Following their acoustic set of familiar songs, get ready to be rocked by New Bern’s own, The Wannabees. This will be the last band performing on the stage at TP So be sure to make it down for a fun night of rocking classics. Looking forward, the owner Dale Overbee is getting ready to open his converted Diamond Club into Bambooz II. That is where you will be heading to catch the best rocking bands around. More on that as it become available.
Well groovers, those are your live music options to get you through the night. Now that we have the work week behind us, it is time to put on the dance shoes and have some fun. Whatever you pick for your weekend fun options, please party responsibly and share kindness with everyone you meet.
