We have arrived at another weekend. We are here to welcome you to it and remind you there is live music happening every where throughout our great state of North Carolina. We are hoping that you make some time and even plan a trip to connect to some of our many talented artist.
Please support their efforts, dance to the music, buy their merchandise and hug them often! Tips are always welcome and applause always appreciated. These are the people that help us forget our troubles and worry as we let go and enjoy, dance and relax. Life is short and it is often filled with chaos, but music soothes and heals that restlessness and your soul and mind always reap great rewards when they benefit from the beats!
The boys that are picture above with me make up the rhythm section of Saltwater Gold who will be performing this evening on the big stage at The Red Rooster, located behind Silo’s Restaurant at 1111 Broad St., Oriental, NC. They give up all the classic rock grooves you love while mixing in some of their own feel good originals. This is a free show that starts at 7 pm.

In my world of artist development, we are getting ready for more radio with the Adam Hill Band. Hill was invited back to Music Monday which is a weekly feature for Thunder Country’s Raeford Brown’s Morning Show.
The segment is hosted by John Jones and it is recorded at The Earl Jones School of Music in Jacksonville, NC. Be sure to tune in to 96.3 FM this coming Monday at 8:30 am to hear the boys live on the air.
Hill made an acoustic debut on Monday, February 20, 2017. That appearance also marked Hill’s radio debut for this fairly new solo project. On Monday, May 1, 2017 at 8:30 am he will return with the full band to rock the radio waves. We hope you get to listen along as it happens live but if you miss it I will be there recording video of it for your viewing pleasure on his website adamhillmusic.net
Hank Barbee has returned from his recent tour down through the southern states. He and his Dust Parade visited many familiar spots on this tour through Florida as he brought the new disc along for fans to purchase.
They are back in area and Barbee makes his return to the local scene and tonight! You can catch Barbee solo at The Marina Cafe located at 110 S Marine Blvd., Jacksonville, NC from 8 pm til 11 pm. Tomorrow he will be rocking the fans in Swansboro as he offer music to accompany dinner at Church Street Pub located at 105 W Church St., Swansboro, NC. Music plays 7-10 pm.
In other news it was also just announced that Hank Barbee and The Dust Parade will be the featured act on Day one of Bernaroo Arts & Music Festival which will be taking place in New Bern this July. Save the dates July 14-15 and make plans to be in town for some great music all weekend long including the talented Barbee. More information on the festival will be featured here as we grow closer to the event.

Kicking things off in Winston-Salem tonight, we find music at Muddy Creek Music Hall located at 5455 Bethania Rd., Winston-Salem, NC. They are offering the bluegrass beats music of June Rise live from 8-11 pm.
BigDumbHick will be giving up the smart grooves live at The Wet Whistle Company located at 101 Bonnie Pl., Suite E; Archdale, NC. There is no charge for this event and Susan Terry will offer bass accompaniment. Music starts at 7 pm and they will jam for two hours or better.

For those looking for an adult only retreat with good rock n fun times, pack up the camping gear and cooler and head down Highway 55 to the Thunder On Tobacco Road. This bike rally is an annual Spring and Fall event and offers live music both nights. On deck to rock you tonight will be Steel Standing Band with their great mix of country and southern rock grooves to get your weekend started right! Further west we find our way to Goldsboro and make a stop at The Flying Shamrock Pub & Restaurant located at 115 N John St., Goldsboro, NC. Adam Hill will offer a side of music for those in the house looking for a great bite to eat. This show is free with music happening from 8:30 -11:30 pm. Checking things out in Kinston we find that New Bern talent Bryan Mayer heads north to perform at North Street Pub & Eatery located at 115 W North St., Kinston NC. Music charge is $5.00 and the music starts at 9 pm and Mayer keeps you in his groove til 1 am.
Just around the way you can stop in at The Red Room and get a fix of jam band Mac & Juice Quartet who will be live on stage from 10 pm til 2 am. Come enjoy a great night of fun grooves. They charge a music fee at the door and tips are always welcome by the band too.
Having a look at things going down around lil Washington we find that Scott Kirby has a show slotted for this evening at The Turnage Theater located at 150 W Main St., Washington, NC. Here are the details as listed on Facebook:

Live tonight on the Pebble Beach stage at Backwater Jack’s Tiki Bar & Restaurant located at 1052 E MAin St., Washington, NC; you can enjoy the folk and roots grooves of Lipbone Redding live from 7-10 pm. Come early for the great food and stay till closing for the great grooves Misc is free and and service is great!
After that show ends at BJ’s you can head up the road to Market Street Pub and check out the grooves of Mikele Buck who will be kicking it from 10 pm til closing about 2 am. If you like country be sure to catch this rising star soon.
Since we are moving around to points north and west of New Bern, we find a double bill tonight at Farmville Dogwood Festival proudly presents a FREE CONCERT with the legendary NC band SIDEWINDER! Special guest Built for Comfort Band get the crowd primed and ready. This reunion show for Sidewinder will be there first time performing in eastern NC since The Attic Nightclub days! Built for Comfort is a Blues/Rock/Americana band based out of Greenville who always get your toes tapping and your feet moving!!! The fun starts at 6:30 pm so after work head to Farmville and listen for the street music!
Speaking of Mikele Buck and The Dogwood Festival, you should know that while visiting Farmville for the festival, make sure to check out Pour Haus Pub located at 3746 Main St., Farmville, NC as they offer the sounds of Davis & Davis tonight and Michele Buck tomorrow. Hopping the ferry and heading to the outer banks we find Water High live this evening from 9 pm til 1 am. They will be performing at Gaffer’s Sports Pub located at 1050 Irvin Garrish Highway, Ocracoke, NC. HW is a local band that offers a wide selection music from many genres including a great mix of classic rock and modern blues plus a mix of modern rock n jam bands.

Each month Live@ The City Laundry located at 901 Pollock St., New Bern, NC; brings together some of the best pro jazz players in our area. This month musicians and singers are coming together to celebrate the life and the music of local tenor sax man Russell Hamby.

Bobby Hurff & The Gypsy Sunrise are scheduled to perform tonight at The Brown Pelican located at 411 Broad St., New Bern, NC. Music starts at 7 pm and this folk style band offers the talents of Hurff and his many students as they perform an array of familiar folk standards. This show is free and tips are appreciated always.
The rocking blues trio based out of Kinston, NC, Feral Cats make their New Bern venue debut when they perform tonight on the patio at The Harvey Mansion located at 221 E Front St. Music plays from 8-11 pm on the patio and a DJ carries on the grooves in the bar when the music stops outside. Come meet the cool cats making music, The Feral Cats will rock you!
Big Jim Kohler Band will bring their blues to Triple Play Restaurant this evening from 8:30 pm til the closing hour. Located at 111 Williams Rd., New Bern, NC. Come out and enjoy some dinner and catch many local players as they offer a good dose of the blues. Helping out Big Jim on bass tonight is Wick Wickline on drum he calls Steve Hill to the stage and helping him on vocals will be his bride of 22 years, Ms Kathy herself.
