There is a show happening today at The History Place, located at 1008 Arendell Ave., Morehead City, NC. This classical concert features the musical talents of The Lopez-Tabor Duo. Tickets are $35.00  for this performance and here is what I learned about them on the Facebook event page:

The Lopez Tabor Duo returns to Carteret County to dazzle audiences once again with works ranging from the venerated traditions of Bach and Beethoven to a Frenchman’s exciting piece in the Spanish style, plus sparkling and rhythmic Spanish and Latin American compositions.

The Lopez Tabor Duo has received high praise from music critics who describe their performances as “musical bliss” and “flawless display of violin virtuoso” technique. Be sure not to miss this rare opportunity to enjoy a world-class performance.

The members of the Lopez Tabor Duo, Alfonso Lopez, violinist, and Michelle Tabor, pianist, have performed together in the United States and Venezuela since 2004. Alfonso Lopez, a violinist, conductor, composer, and teacher, is considered one of Venezuela’s most versatile and prominent musicians of his generation. He holds the important position of concertmaster of the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra, the national and principal orchestra, nominated to receive a Latin Grammy award for Best Instrumental CD. Lopez earned his B.A. (Summa Cum Laude) and an M.A. (Highest Honors) in music from the University of Michigan, plus advanced musical training in Austria and England.

Having a look around the RDU area, I found the Greg Finger Band along with CW’s Akoustic Soul-O will be on stage at The Pour House Music Hall, located at 224 S Blount St., Raleigh NC. Music starts at 8 pm and lasts til the midnight hour. Here is what I learned about both artists on the Facebook event page:

Truth be told, I wasn’t a big country music fan growing up…that was, until I was introduced to Zac Brown Band. It was the summer of my junior year in college when I listened to Zac Brown Bands album “Uncaged” for the first time. My heart and my mind instantly clicked. I spent months taking in the sounds and feels of that album. After listening through the album likely 30 times, I thought “This is what I want to do…I want to make music like this.” It was clear to me at that moment where my desires met my gifting. But how was I going to do it?
I started writing songs….lots of songs. I admit most of them were awful at first, but for six months I was a songwriting machine. I wrote over 80 songs. After sharing a few songs with guitar player/background vocalist Duke McClellan and adding him on the tracks, I knew we had something going. Shortly after, Kentucky drummer Zach Adams joined the band along with bassist Austin Vitucci. It is a special thing when you genuinely enjoy hanging out with people you “work” with. I put work in quotes because music has never felt like work me, more like something that is instinctively a part of me. The band is insanely talented, and I really wouldn’t trade making music with these guys for anyone. But, even more than being talented, they get the vision. That is invaluable to me. Coming together very organically, Greg Finger Band has become a really quick success with Duke, Zach, and Austin right at my side.
Fast forward one year, our debut EP has launched, we have spent thousands of miles on the road, and have been writing and playing the best music we ever have – I am excited. Can you tell? We have only scratched the surface of what we are going to do, and I look forward to the journey.
CW’s Akoustic Soul-O:
Chris Wells has shared stages with many notable acts of many genres.
-the multi-instrumentalist creates his own unique vibe by fusing acoustic, rock, and soul,
-as a bassist national and international tours with prominent artists.
-writes music for film and television projects including legendary soap opera, ‘All My Children’ and others.
-contributed tracks to internationally released clothing line compilations.
-Most recently, Christopher worked with Grammy nominated artist, Ms.Lauryn Hill, playing bass and assisting with music direction

Nick Millevoi is a part of the show happening above and here is what I learned out this player.

Nick Millevoi is a Philadelphia-based guitarist and composer whose music draws upon the influences of avant-garde jazz, modern classical, and rock and roll to create a personal sound. A restless sonic explorer, Nick’s maximizes the possibilities of the electric guitar through frequent use of feedback, raw noise, and non-traditional tunings. As an intrepid composer, Millevoi confronts everything from maximal electric power trio music to chamber music to large-scale improvisation-heavy ensemble pieces, and everything in between.

Be sure to check him out tonight.
