Seeing how it is Sunday, the day of great blessings, where giving should be in the heart and on the mind of I have a great option for those looking to make a difference. Tonight at The Blue Note Grill located at 709 Washington St., Durham, NC; it is The Second Annual Raise The Roof Fundraiser and Silent Auction for Bright Stars Stables, a Therapeutic Riding Center. Here is what I learned about this feel good option on the event page of the Blue Note’s website:
The 2nd annual “Raise the Roof” fundraiser is just around the corner! The evening will be family friendly and includes a very exciting silent auction. An incredible musical lineup featuring some of the Triangle Area’s most talented musicians, the BSS (Bright Star Stables) All star Band will playing a variety of Rock & Roll, R&B, Blues, Jazz and maybe some Beach, upon request, will be on hand… so it is highly advised to bring your dancing shoes.
Emcee for this very special event will be Marguerite Ayers. Ms. Ayers is a former TV News Reporter of 20 Years who spent the last decade of her career at the ABC Station in Boston. Marguerite has covered the White House, Democratic and Republican Conventions, and has numerous Emmy Nominations and Three National ‘Telly’ Awards for her Reporting. She has also raised, trained, and shown Quarter Horses her whole life and has amassed World Championships and World and Quarter Horse Top Ten’s in Palomino and Quarter Horse competition, as well as Top Ten’s at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. She now resides on a farm in Wilmington NC with her ten-year-old son, and 16-year-old daughter.
The Raise the Roof 2, Music Night and Silent Auction is held to raise funds for Bright Star’s ongoing efforts in providing a safe and comfortable riding experience for the children and adults of all backgrounds and disabilities in the program. With the money raised from the 2015event, BSS was able to construct the roof that now covers the entire riding ring. Prior to the construction of the roof, valuable and essential therapeutic riding time was lost during inclement weather. Plans this year are to install overhead fans and lighting throughout the structure along with improvements to Bright Star Stables.

Live from 7-10 pm you can check out alternative roots rockers Paleo Sun on stage at Bella’s Bar Local, located at 19 Market St., Wilmington, NC. Here is what I learned from this Facebook event page:
‘Turn Up The Volume’ on the alternative roots rock sound of Paleo Sun as they mix summer love & soul vibe into an Irie vibe. Their rhythmic hooks & lyrical rhymes are enlivened flavor their sound from the studio to the stage. The positively soulful sound of Paleo Sun echoes the applause of guitar, the heartbeat of the drums and the ancient voice of didgeridoo.
