Mixing things up and rolling over to Durham, you can check out the beautiful music of Daniel D., who has a show tonight at Beyu Cafe. This sounds like the best show of the night. I have a soft spot for this kind of thing having watched my son play in an orchestra. Here is more about another family’s precious son.
Talent is a gift, and Daniel Davis (p.k.a. Violinist Daniel D.) discovered his early in life. He first drew a bow across the strings of a violin at 12 years old. Davis has produced 6 studio Albums, with his latest holiday project titles “The Sounds of Christmas”.
A four time Apollo Theater Winner, Charlotte Music Award Recipient, and a highlighted performer on B.E.T. 106 & Park. He was an opening Artist for the 2008 and 2012 President Barack Obama Presidential Campaigns. Raised in Charleston, South Carolina, Davis graduated from the city’s esteemed School of the Arts in 2007, immediately setting off on a nationwide tour with T-Bone Ministries.
Sharing stages with major artist is not new for Davis; such names as Kim Waters, Jamie Foxx, Marvin Sapp, Kanye West, Tye Tribbett, Boney James, Kenny Lattimore, Marion Meadows, Althea Renee, Najee, K’Jon, Lelah Hathaway, Ben Tankard, and Paul Jackson Jr. has given Davis a supreme perspective on his musicianship.

Along the Coast ~
Back in June a friend of mine here in town and actually a big part of the inspiration for the creation of this blog, Dan “Jam” Phillips, posted on an event that I should check this guy out. His name was Hank Barbee. Phillips had caught a show of his and thought I would enjoy hearing his music.
So I checked out his website and set my sites on his next date at the Cru Bar & Wine Store, located at 120 Tuner St., Beaufort, NC. I took in his show for the first time in July and since then, we have struck up this great friendship and working relationship. We are brainstorming on the many ways to advance his career! He is a talented songwriter and his delivery of those songs make it a show worth seeing. Long and tall on talent Barbee is an original artists in so many fashions.
Currently he is working on the finer details of releasing his next disc. Son Royale, has been mixed and mastered and is now in the packaging stages of the process. By the turn of the new year, new Hank Barbee music will be available. He has two other efforts available for purchase, at all of his live shows and tonight he is back at the Cru Bar and Wine Store in Beaufort, which is a fun place to enjoy this entertainer. He will be rocking the room from 8:30-11:30 pm and there is no cover for this show!
Earlier in the day and just over the bridge, you can enjoy a great Christmas Concert at The First Presbyterian Church, located at 1604 Arendell St., Morehead City. That event takes place from 4-7 pm and tickets are $10.00.
