Getting Down Around Town New Bern~
Tonight the community will gather to raise money for a local charity at The Brown Pelican, located at 411 Broad St., New Bern, NC. The evening will bring three art genres together for Habitat for Humanity of Craven County. Musical guest on the bill is the talented singer/songwriter out of Richlands, NC, Hank Barbee.
During his performance, local artist and amazing painter, Laura Gammons will be painting a portrait stage side as Barbee performs. The panting that she creates will be donated to the approved family for the house being built as a part of this fundraiser.
The public is encouraged to come out and enjoy a great night of the arts and fine entertainment. There won’t be a dull moment with Meg Wethington offering her saucy spoken word stylings to the crowd in between music sets.
Tiny Tornado Food Truck will also be on site to offer many delicious options to fix your food cravings!
There are many ways that people can contribute too! There will be an angel tree for people to pick an angel to help serve our local chapter. The paintings hanging in the piano room at The Brown Pelican were all painted by Gammons. Any of her artwork sold this month, she will give 50% of sales to HFH. Barbee will also be selling his merchandise this evening. He offers two discs of great music and awesome guitar string bracelets, each created and crafted by his mother using his recycled guitar strings. Half of the proceeds from his sales tonight will also go to HFH. Both artists offer awesome Christmas gifts for the ones you love!!!
There will also be helpers on hand to take your tax deductible donation. It costs between $80,000-$85, 000 to build a Habitat Home. Your contributions tonight will go to helping a local family with aiding to provide a safe haven for that approved family.
I will also encourage you to tip generously, as the bar will match tips and donate to the cause.
This event kicks off with live music at 7 pm and will go until 11 pm. ‘Tis the season to make a big impact on the world and every day is a good day to pay it forward. I hope to see you there!

Thanks so much for reading. I hope you will share this on social media so that your friends find out about it too! Whatever you pick for your good time, please take kindness with you. Bartenders and wait staff do not even make minimum wage, so please tip generously in this season of giving to those who help you with your happy weekends! Also share that love and money with the bands that make you dance. I think musician wages are even less than waitresses!
Peace love and enjoy the dance!
