Gettin’ Down Around Town, New Bern
Having a look around town first,  you can catch James Ford tonight live at The City Laundry located at 901 Pollock Street, New Bern. NC. They are hosting their Holiday Open House and feature many vendors, a great light menu and awesome coffee. Come out and get into the spirit with great live music and fun for all. Music starts at 7 pm and Ford will rock and groove you until 10 pm!

Live at The Brown Pelican, located at 411 Broad St., New Bern, NC, they are offering LV Duo rocking the room from 7-10 pm. This duo features a couple of players out of the Raleigh area, including namesake Luther Vaudville.Â

Over at Bear Town Market, located at 402 S Front Street, you can enjoy the music of Chris Hollacheck. This cat will be stopping by from Nashville, TN and offering  a variety of old school classics as well as and some modern country music to start the weekend off right. All your familiar country favorites plus his original music too going down from 7-10 pm and it’s FREE!

Along The Coast
Kate McNally is a singer/songwriter/guitar player who has a  classic country sound with familiar folk roots. She performs many classics that you will know and originals that you will relate to, all with her beautiful voice! There is no charge for this show taking place from 8-11 pm at The Cru Bar & Wine Store, located at 120 Turner St., Beaufort, NC. Charge!

There is a two night event going down at The Whiskey beginning Friday and wrapping up on Saturday . This is a pause for the cause feel good event. It’s the 5th Annual Christmas Jam and Food Drive. They ask all patrons to bring an unwrapped new toy for Toys for Tots or some canned food for the Mother Huppard’s Cupboard. They are also accepting hygiene products, new clothes and shoes. The idea is to bring something to the jam to help those who are less fortunate this holiday season.
The Whiskey is located at 1 South Front St., Wilmington, NC. The Possums get the show started at 10 pm each night and rock the room til 2 am.

The Folkstone Stringband will be giving up a great show for fans of folk and string music. The pickin’ and grinnin’ gets underway at 5:30 pm at Moe’s Original BBQ located at 5818 Oleander Dr, Wilmington NC. This quartet of strings ought to move you during dinner as the weekend gets started!

The last show I heard abut in and around the southern shores is Snake Malone & The Black Cat Bone, giving fans a dose of good blues for the holiday season. They will return to the Satellite Bar on Friday, December 16 for some pre-holiday festivities. Santa will be watching, he loves the Blues. Joining Malone for this great night of good music will be  Aaron Lane on trumpet, Tristan Burns on tenor sax, Sean Meade on alto sax, Matt Smith on drums, Jesse Phillips on keys and Riley Kearns joining us on bass.

For those in Durham looking for a fun holiday event to take the family to; head over to Durham Armory for a free night of festive music with the Durham Community Concert Band playing some of their favorite holiday tunes! They will be joined by La Fe/Faith Baptist Church Children’s Choir and they invite you all to sing along. Santa will even be making an appearance!

Dakota Blue will be rocking the Red Room on Friday December 16, 2016. They will be live on stage from 10 pm til 2 am. There is a music charge at the door and the band give it back note for note during their show.
The Red Room is a great music venue and it is located at 220 N Heritage St., Kinston, NC.
