Last Saturday night I was invited to crash a wedding that was taking place in Beaufort, NC so to meet the newest member Second Helping, The Lynyrd Skynyrd Show based out of Lenoir County. Guitarist Jake Johnson joined the line-up a few weeks ago replacing Tom Spellman. Johnson gave his first live offering with the band last week when they played for a newly married couple that was more than grateful for their performance.
As we made our way to the function former guitarist Spellman noted all of the pickup trucks parked on the street leading to the festivities.” The band sounded great and the bride was more than happy to have them.
The ten piece outfit tours nationally for festivals and quite obviously is also available for weddings. They perform mostly at town and community events and festivals. They are available to bring their show to your town next. To check out the band and consider them for an upcoming event please follow this link to their website:
The setting for the wedding receptions was in an old converted barn on the water and they band was set up in the old hay rafters. It was quite a tasks getting good shots of them on this particular night, but we did the best we could.
Making our way back to New Bern in time to catch a couple more show, Spellman and I attended the Corey Stuart Show under the tent, on the patio at Circa 1810 Bar at the Harvey Mansion. This talented entertainer puts a lot into making his shows fun and full of energy. He is a one man band that brings a full band sound. Offering the fun songs of the 80’s and 90’s Stuart gets people moving to his groove. The Raleigh based performer plays around the state and beyond state lines. If you are interested in hearing more, check out Stuart by following this link:
We stopped in at The Brown Pelican for the final set of music on Saturday night where we enjoyed the rocking sounds of the East Brogues Band. This classic rock band featuring the guitar works of Gary Dudley is based in Cape Carteret and enjoy visiting New Bern throughout the year to play. Each time they do, they bring the classic rock of the Stones, Doors, CCR, and many more.
The trio of rockers will be bringing their show back to the Bern next month when they play at Circa 1810 Bar at The Harvey Mansion on Friday, February 23, 2018. Heather Bunn, Amanda Korbee, Marron Chaplin and Jill Adair are just some of the great singers that will join Knight as he casts his spell! Man, watch as he slays hearts, well mine anyway! Please join us for some dancing and great fun from 5-8 pm this Sunday evening at Circa 1810 Bar at the Harvey Mansion.

Christina plays there from 8 pm til midnight.
Before there was The Adam Hill Band there was a project known as Victim of The Cause. This project is actually Hill’s music baby and one that is still dear to his heart. This is band unit that is his driving force in music. In all they knew a 12 year stint before taking a needed break. During that break The Adam Hill Band came to the helm of Hill’s world.
Still holding great regard for the music that was made in that era of Victim, Hill has returned and tonight the band debuts their 2018 line up at The Whiskey in Wilmington, NC
Opening the show will be another solid original force worth listening to, Unofficial Red Dog. I had the opportunity to hear a few of their songs not long ago. The Whiskey is located right on Front St.Music starts at 10 pm and rocks til 2 am
