On the Scene With Tracey Stones
Dan Jam Phillips joined his musical friends for a fun jam following the holiday this week. Dan Jam offered the sounds from the front of The Brown Pelican, 411 Broad St., New Bern, NC. Joining Phillips on stage were his guitarist, Scott Carlisle and Al Gleeson and on bass we found Simon Spalding. Mid way through the evening drummer for the Feral Cats, Kim Kornegay got up and offered the beats for the boys with a couple of bongos.
Dan Jam will bring his show to Circa 1810 Restaurant & Bar at the Harvey Mansion Sunday evening, as the sun goes down on another fun weekend of music filled memories. They offer the tunes from 5-8 pm out on the patio, which is now furnished with heaters to keep all the fair weather groovers toasty!
For folks looking to check in with Carlisle and Kornegay, head down to the Dirty Bird tonight for a great show of rocking blues with The Feral Cats, who will be rocking the grooves that make folks dance through the night from 8-11 pm. The is show is free, The Brown Pelican is a private club and membership is affordable for all. Just fill out your card and pay your $1.00 fee and you are in for the year! Come one come all and dance!

I stopped by the Thirsty Bruin to check in with Steel Shot, who offered the grooves to fans and friends on Middle Street. Much to my surprise I found singer and bongo banger Jeremy Lowery of the band on stage with music brother and stand in on guitar, Brad Newman. This has been known to happen from time to time, when the band’s guitar man Shawn Mitchell is busy working the drums behind the tallest man in country music, Bryan Mayer. With Mayer and band on the scene in Morehead City last night, Newman and Lowery offered the familiar favorites that many love in town, on a very festive evening at the local craft beer store.

When Newman is not standing in for Mitchell, he is often found working out the licks for the duo Silver Creek. That Pamlico County duo plays around town from time to time, as well as around the county they call home. Currently the duo is seeking playing opportunities. The Adam Hill Band rocked fans and friends alike last nigh,t when they brought their show to New Bern. The band gave up the grooves for three hours on the patio at Circa 1810 Bar at The Harvey Mansion, 221 S Front St., New Bern, NC.
Since I see the band often, and it has become a fun past time to not only watch the band, but the people, especially those that witness the empiricism of Adam Hill for the first time. It never gets old and it happens every where we go. This band has the ability to grab you from the depths of your soul and shake up to an awaken state of mind freeing thoughts.
Over a year in, I am still excited about watching this band as they gel and grow with hours logged on the road and off together. In that year, my favorite music has shifted greatly as I became a first rate fan of the band and their original compositions penned by Hill. Here is the band last night with “Full House” one of their rocking originals.
Tonight you can find the band live at County Line Bar & Grill, located at 9527 Hwy 903 N, Ayden, NC. Music plays from 10 pm til 2 am. They offer a free meal, served at 8 pm. There is a $5.00 music charge payable at the door. They serve many varieties of beer and wine but you are invited to bring your own brown bag and they will mix the drinks for you!
