Last weekend was fun-filled and music filled. One of the acts that I caught up with and mentioned last weekend was Tiffany Elaine. This young singer from the Crystal Coast is a single mom following dreams. The mother of two has been traveling around our state, visiting Nashville and seeking any music opportunity offered. Look for more new music by this young country girl from the coast. For those looking to celebrate and dance with Tiffany Elaine, be sure to make plans to join her tomorrow night at Time Out Tavern, located at 360 Chatham Rd, Newport, NC. Tomorrow the country singer-songwriter turns 29 and looks forward to sharing her music with all before age 30, #GOALS! Music starts at 9 pm and all birthday tips go to future recording costs.
I caught up with New Bern’s newest party band Limited Engagement on Saturday night. Never a disappointment, they had themselves a party going on when I made it to Christoph’s to join the fun. The band was scheduled to play on the deck at the DoubleTree for the holiday weekend, but they moved indoors given the elements last week.
Tonight the band will be rocking the grooves at Triple Play Restaurant, located at 111 Williams Rd, New Bern, NC. There is a music charge for the show and the music starts at 9:30 pm. Come enjoy the grooves of the talented James Ford on guitar and vocals, Billy Mobley on bass and vocals, and Freddie Scungio on drums and vocals.
I also caught up with Wick Wickline last Saturday evening, as he served up his rocking dose of music to folks on the patio at The Harvey Mansion, located at 221 S Front S., New Bern, NC. He is all about rocking people to the core and that is what he did from 8-11 last week. Coming up next week Wick will be joining his band buddies in The BiPolar Express and heading to the coast to rock the folk at Off The Hook on Saturday, September 16, 2017. Music starts at 9:30 pm and there is a $5.00 music charge at the door. Off the Hook is a great option for dinner, rocking the night away. They are located S 7th St., Morehead City, NC. This will be the second time they welcome these trio of rockers from New Bern.
The Hot Buttered Grits were the music entertainment for the after party at The Brown Pelican, located at 411 Broad St., New Bern, NC. Last weekend the town featured the Pickin’ & Grinnin Festival at Tryon Palace. Following the event the Grits kept the jams going and local banjo player George Oliver brought in his birthday right, doing what he loves on stage, playing music.
This week and for the next couple weekends Oliver will be found on another kind of stage. Be sure to catch him acting out his other passions on stage, at The New Bern Civic Theater in the production Around The World in 80 Days. The theater is located at 411 Pollock St.New Bern, NC. See the ad below for dates and times.
My next and final stop on Saturday night was at The Red Room located at 220 N Herritage St., Kinston, NC. That is where I caught up with Adam Hill and his band who rocked souls and melted faces with a great mix of originals and rocking cover tunes too. The trio has a busy weekend ahead. I will be traveling with them as they make an appearance here in Greenville, NC tonight, as they rock the college town from the stage at AJ McMurphy’s, located at 1914 Turnbury Dr., Greenville, NC. They get the party started at 9:30 pm and rock til 12:30 am. This show is free and the venue offers a full bar and menu for your delight!

Since I am talking about Saturday a lot, we might as well take a minute and shine a light on the survivors of rape and victims of sexual abuse. My heros! The boys and girls and the men and women who don’t let this horrible crime set them back. Much because we have an agency that helps to set them free from their pain by offering therapy that heals their trauma.
Promise Place is located in New Bern and they serve all the communities and the families living in Jones, Pamlico and Craven Counties. They work with victims and their families as they heal and recover from the painful ails of life.
