Last night I started things off by visiting with my friend Big Jim Kohler. We spent some time celebrating him. He was more awake and alert when I dropped by last evening and since he had his eyes open I let him watch his beautiful bride sing to him on my phone. I have lots of video and pics of this couple, so find songs to reach him are easy for this girl. I held the phone as we watched “People Get Ready” and told him that we are going to thank the Lord for hearing his wish of living to see his birthday. Then he watched “Angel From Montgomery” and reminded him about his angel who is missing him. I told him she will never sing so good without him and so he just needs to keep pushing.
I then played “Rather Go Blind” and told him how he can not leave us here with Kathy, as she will drive us all crazy without her guitar man offering his good blues for her outlet. I also played some Son Seals and rested the phone on his pillow as he listened. I held his hand and told him my plan again and he responded when I told him I was going to walk with him. I promised him that while he worked hard on getting healthy, I would work hard on creating a healthy music environment for him to return to and play. He heard every word I said. He is fighting hard and coming through this as I write these words today. But he is not out of the woods yet and prayers are still needed and appreciated.

Moyers was always a creative spirit who made a living on stage out west many years ago singing with a band and settled in New Bern and brought CoffeeTimes to our attention. She has a tale of survival and a heart of gold. I encourage everyone to come out and learn more while helping her and others right here in our neighborhood. This money helps the group take trips and live fuller lives. Please consider being a part of that good will towards others if you are around town on Tuesday! Since she started losing her sight Moyers has been working on reinventing her life yet again. This charity is good work and her efforts need your support.
