” It’s Saturday Night, What Do You Say We Go Out and Support Live Music?”
Live Music Options for Saturday, January 21. 2017
~ Gettin’ Down, Around Town, New Bern ~
Taberna Country Club will host the music of Casablanca, on Saturday January 21.
Casablanca is an instrumental trio, playing Jazz Classics and exotic World Music – as if Sam the Piano Man had taken the night off from Rick’s American Bar, and a motley but talented trio had taken his place. Casablanca’s music, laced with favorite themes from the Silver Screen, takes you from Russia to Brazil to Persia to who knows where?
—Tom Spellman plays nylon-string and steel-string guitar.
—Glenn Druhot plays drum set, djembe, bongos, and other percussion..
—Simon Spalding plays violin, guitar, and oud, the fretless lute of the Orient.
The music starts at 6:30 pm and continues until 9:00, with a $5 cover for non-members. Regular menu items will be available for those who choose to dine.
Taberna Country Club is located at 401 Taberna Drive, south of New Bern in the Taberna Community. For reservations or information, call Taberna Country Club at 252-634-1600, x.2. For information on the band, contact Simon Spalding at 252-636-1256, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Casablanca will take you on a musical magic carpet ride to destinations both familiar and exotic… the sound of Casablanca is an exotic mix, as if Gypsy Jazz musicians from Paris were joined by local Moroccan players.” –New Bern Magazine

Here is what I learned about them on the Facebook Event Page:
The Boys of “SALAZAR” have only been together a short time. In that short amount of time Salazar has been blessed with great success. Driven by our own unique sound and energy, on and off the stage, we have quickly established our own brand of music. Extremely loyal to our growing fan base….Humbled by them at the same time. We are truly grateful. We also have original music written and recorded and are currently working on an album. There’s a good number of years of experience and stage presence that hits the stage every time we do a show! SALAZAR is all about the crowd. From our “in your face” “guitar driven” “party songs”….to our SALAZAR inspired ballads…we love to put on a show! We have shared the stage with many of the local artists in the Ga music scene such as Highway 55, The Tiger Creek Band, Lance Stinson, Hatton Still, as well as a few signed artists such as Molly Hatchet, The Lacs, Twang & Round, Colt Ford, Saving Abel, Jeff Bates, and a couple more coming up soon. We look forward to rocking a stage in your hometown!

We love seeing y’all. Come join us.
A love of the music, philosophy and spirit of the Grateful Dead was the basis of the formation of the band in 2008. We have had changes in the line up ever since we began but believe our current roster is the best since we started.
Whitney Pearsall, our lead vocalist, is one of the original members of the band. Music has been a huge part of her life. She was an entertainer at a very early age. She has been the featured vocalist in bands in Maryland and North Carolina.
Rich Saltz, one of our guitar players, is also one of the original members of the band. He draws on his love of the music of the Grateful Dead, having seen over 150 shows. Jerry Garcia’s influence is easily evidenced in his playing style.
Jonas McAlarney is a seasoned player who has appeared in many bands in North Carolina. He was formerly a member of They’re Only Mostly Dead. His talent adds to the intricate mix and sound that the band produces.
Brant Kay plays keyboards and shares the lead vocal responsibilities. He is also an accomplished guitar player. He has played in bands in Virginia, California, New Mexico, and North Carolina. He grew up with the music of the Grateful Dead in his family and it continues to be a vital part of his being.
Lars Hartmann is in his second tour with the band. He has been involved in many projects in the Triangle. He brings a sense of spirit and reckless abandon to the mix. To say it simply, he is a MONSTER behind the kit.
Sean Geist is the newest member of the band. The are no holds barred when he is playing. He has been a member of a number of bands in North Carolina.
The bands goal is not to present note by note recreations of what the Grateful Dead produced but to pay homage to the music that has affected us deeply.
