Here is more information about the bands which I found on the Facebook event page:
Viva la Venus is a female-fronted guitar rock band from North Carolina founded by vocalists/guitarists Wendy Brancaccio and Susan Darney. The two began writing music that combines powerfully seductive vocal melodies with complex and intricate guitar leads wrapped around sexy rhythm guitar hooks. Mary Anne Barckhoff soon joined with grooving bass lines, adding rhythmic vocal harmonies and occasionally trading bass and guitar duties with Susan. Trey McLamb’s thunderous drumming intensified the Viva la Venus sound: not quite metal, certainly not pop, but well-written, solid rock songs to keep your body rocking and mind rolling. The band quickly gained popularity through constant touring, radio airplay, press, and winning “battle of the bands” competitions.
The band’s debut CD release, The Never Ending Mending Story, proved the group’s strong songwriting and musical talent landing them a deal with Sony Music Television. Their second CD release, Forget the Fairy Tale, quickly skyrocketed, gaining them national attention and was selected as one of the Top 25 CDs of the year by indie-music.com . The band toured heavily and gained popularity throughout the East Coast and Midwest club circuit. The band’s most recent CD release, Bleeding on the Edge of Happiness, shows a clear maturity of seasoned musicianship and proves how well they complement each other as a solid unit, delivering their own brand of rock.
The band has made television appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and the North Carolina band TV showcase, Barchords. The music of Viva la Venus has been featured on national TV shows including Lifetime Network’s Strong Medicine and in the film, The Forever Dead written and directed by Christine Parker. Their music is available online at CDBaby.com, iTunes and other online outlets.

Directors Judy Long and Lori Favre are bringing this worldwide pop culture phenomenon to a stage near you!
“Spellbinding, funny, and almost unbearably moving…written with a bluntness that is nevertheless intensely lyrical, it is both a work of art and an incisive piece of cultural history, a poem, and a polemic, a performance and a balm and a benediction.” ~ Variety
A local all-star cast will bring the show to life on February 18th at the City Laundry in New Bern and February 25th at Carteret Community Theatre in Morehead City at 8:00 pm. Doors open at 7:00 each night. Beer and wine concessions will be available (and, perhaps, a little bit encouraged) prior to each performance.
Based on interviews with over 200 women about their memories and experiences of sexuality, The Vagina Monologues gives voice to women’s deepest fantasies and fears, guaranteeing that no one who sees it will ever look at a woman’s body, or think of sex, in quite the same way again. It is witty and irreverent, compassionate and wise. ‘At first women were reluctant to talk,’ Ensler writes. ‘They were a little shy. But once they got going, you couldn’t stop them.”
General admission tickets are $20 for all performances. Advance tickets will go on sale soon and may be purchased at www.thecitylaundry.yapsody.com for the New Bern show and at www.carteretcommunitytheatre.com for the Morehead City show.

Come on by this Saturday to enjoy a unique local talent, The Dick Richards. While you are here, The Tiny Tornado will be on site to offer up their awesome menu. Sit back, enjoy yourself and have a beer.
The Dick Richards are an indie trio out of New Bern, NC. Through happenstance and luck The Dick Richards own Jake Ross, the band’s drummer/bassist/guitarist/vocalist, found a beat up vinyl containing the hits of the legendary Ol’ One Eyed Blind Willy Dick Richards, who by himself released over 15,000 albums all of which were good.
Parker Millar, the band’s drummer/bassist/guitarist/vocalist was inspired by the legacy of this legendary rock and roll musician and together Jake Ross and Parker Millar gave their band his namesake to carry on the tradition and spread the word of Ol’ One Eyed Blind Willy Dick Richards.
Rounding out the trio is Justin Tinkler, the band’s drummer/bassist/guitarist/vocalist, joined the Dick Richards after being found on the side of a busy highway in Oriental, NC selling exotic rocks. He soon ditched this endeavor after hearing the good news of Blind Willy. Justin has stated that if this whole band thing doesn’t work out he can just go back to selling rocks anyways.
