Tonight Hank Barbee will be bringing his Dust Parade to New Bern for their debut at The Brown Pelican, to help me celebrate my birthday! Barbee has appeared at the Pelican several times in the past, but always solo. Friday will be extra special as he calls in some talented players to back him rhythmically. I know birthday parties always mean presents and hoopla, but really your presences is a great enough gift for me. I would love for you to check out the artists I am currently representing and dance, as we have fun in one of my favorite watering holes, in the place I love calling home!
I am however willing to accept donations for Promise Place. They are the Sexual Assault Agency, located at 1401 Park Ave., New Bern, NC. Unfortunately, whether we wish to talk about it or not, sexual assault and rape; incest and sexual deviance blankets our culture and fills our communities. This non-profit organization helps victims and families that have suffered this trauma and help them heal. Healing is an important key to keeping people together after such horrible tragedies. Your donations will help those families.
The other way to help the cause is to consider buying some of Laura Gammons original artwork which is on display at The Brown Pelican. Her paintings are located in the piano room at The Dirty Bird. Please check out all her works hanging there and then pick the one that calls to you. Any painting purchased between now and March 31, 2017; 50% of all sales will be donated to Promise Place on behalf of the awesome artist.

Thick n Thin have a gig tonight. They will be playing their tunes for the folks dining at Bistro 150, located at 2205 Oak Ridge Rd., Ste. R, Oak Ridge, NC. Music starts at 7 pm and they will play all the favorites you love til 10 pm.
There is a double stack of talent on tap tonight at Abbey Road Tavern & Grill, located at 1195 W Chatham Rd., Cary, NC. Opening the night with a great variety of acoustic favorites and playing from 6-9 pm will be Jason Lutz. Live tonight at Nightlight Bar & Club, located at 405 W Rosemary St., Chapel Hill, NC, they are holding a fundraiser for the Prison Books Collective, which collects books and sends them to prisoners. There is a great event taking place at the Historic Playmakers Theater, located in Chapel Hill, NC. They are offering Clefchella an annual acapella invitational. It is a two-day event and you probably want to check out both programs. Here is more information on the event from the Facebook page:
The Clefs are super excited for the 2017 installment of our annual a cappella invitational, Clefchella. Widely believed to be nearly as fun as the actual Coachella, you’re going want to catch one or both nights of this jam.
Both days of the concert are sure to offer something a little bit different, and we can’t wait to hang out with the six awesome groups who will be joining us. Friday night, we’ll be singing with The Michigan G-Men, Sweet Signatures and Acappology. In honor of the UVA-UNC basketball showdown on Saturday night, we will be teaming up with the Loreleis and hosting the UVA Hullabahoos and The Virginia Sil’hooettes for a pregame rivalry concert at 3:15 p.m.

Check out the young rising singing sensation Caroline Dare, who will be performing live tonight at The Turnage Theater, located at 150 West Main St., Washington, NC. She will blow your mind when you see her live. She is the future in country music coming out of our great state, so keep an eye on her.

Since I am an advocate for dancing as much as live music, as the two walk hand in hand quite nicely, let me fill you in on a night of dance lessons that will be taking place this evening at Biaggio’s, located at 622 Court St., Unit 100, Jacksonville, NC. Leading the class will be Dawn Cattaneo, who will dance you through the motions of rumba, salsa and lots of other fun dances. Come out tonight and learn to dance with your partner via great instruction while having great fun. 6-9 pm is the time to get your groove mastered.
Spencer Scholes will be rocking with the dinner crowd, dining at the Marina Cafe located at 110 S Marine Blvd., Jacksonville, NC. He serves up the music from 7:30 – 11:30 pm while the staff serves up the great food. This show is free and a great choice for those looking for great music and good food tonight.

Starting things off around the southern shores, we find Folkstone String Band will be live this evening for the dinner crowd at Moe’s Original BBQ, located at 5818 Oleander Dr., Wilmington, NC. They get to picking about 5:30 pm and keep you grooving to the folk and bluegrass offerings til 8:30 pm.
Feather will offer two shows this evening at Bourgie Nights, located at 127 Princess St., Wilmington, NC. Either show will cost $10.00 and the show times are 7:30 pm or 10 pm. Doors open at 7 pm and 9:30 pm for the show that follows.
Dirty White Rags will be rocking the Satelite Bar & Lounge, located at 120 Greenfield St., Wilmington, NC. They take to the stage at 9 pm and rock you til midnight.There is no charge for this show, but feel free to tip the players, as free music is never free!
Closin Tyme got in touch with me, to tell me that they would be rocking Halftime’s Sports Bar & Grill, located at 1107 New Pointe Blvd., Leland, NC. They get the boots kicking by 9:30 pm and will have you boot scooting til 12:30 am. This show is free so come one, come all and enjoy great country music and great grooves of this hard-working regional act.
The acoustic duo Now & Then will be offering a great selection of beautiful songs from the 70’s thru the 90’s tonight at Sea Monkey 58, located at 2604 Fort Macon Rd. Atlantic Beach, NC. They will serve up the music from 6:30 pm til 9:30 pm.
Having a look at the happenings in Beaufort, NC; Travers Brothership will be bringing their show to The Backstreet Pub, located at 124 Middle Ln., Beaufort, NC. There is a music charge to get in but the music is always worth the price of admission. Doors open at 8pm and music usually starts at 10 pm . For more information call the bar at 252-728-7108.
4EverAll offers a great mix of melodic harmonies and good grooves to make you feel relaxed and ready for the weekend. They will be performing live at Cru Bar & Wine Store / Beaufort Coffee Shop, located at 120 Turner St., Beaufort NC. They rock the room from 8-11 pm. There is no cover charge, but you can come early for wine tasting, then stay for appetizers and great music.
Just across the road at Royal James Café you can enjoy the acoustic grooves of the talented Brian Burke, who will be offering his music from 9 pm til midnight. Come out to enjoy the sounds of this music maker and grab a bite to eat too. They make an awesome burger here and the staff is as sweet as can be too.
