Keeping it here at home tonight first, it is the debut of Mellow Monday at Savages Wood-Burning Pizzeria located at 303 Metcalf St., New Bern NC. You are invited to come out with the family and eat dinner and enjoy the music of Alisa Mike who starts things off at 6:30 pm. Below is the info I recently received via email.
MELLOW MONDAYS – MUSIC AND PASTA
Beginning February 6th, Savage’s will be offering a music and pasta night. Our initial performer is the acclaimed Alisa Mike who has developed a well-earned reputation locally. She has been a regular at The City Laundry and other venues around town. On Mellow Mondays, we will have a selection of pasta dishes at a special price.
Working our way around the state here is what else I found for you tonight; you can enjoy the sounds of Lonnie Holley with Ben Sollee at Elsewhere, located at 601 Elm St., Greensboro NC. The admission for this show is $12.00 at the door and doors open at 6:30 pm. Music starts at 7 pm.
There is a special night of music in store at The Pour House Music Hall, located at 224 S Blount St., Raleigh, NC. They are featuring the sounds of classically trained musician Bill Laurence (of Snarky Puppy) with Eric Hursh Quartet. Here are more about the players which I found on the Facebook event page:
Grammy Award® winner and original member of the internationally acclaimed Snarky Puppy, Bill Laurance released his debut album Flint in 2014, and after going straight to No. 1 in the iTunes Jazz Charts, received international critical acclaim. His second album Swift was released on GroundUP Music in Spring 2015.
Classically trained, Bill has worked as a professional musician since he was 14, touring internationally as a pianist, keyboard player, composer, producer, arranger, recording and or performing with artists including: David Crosby, Morcheeba, Salif Keita, Bobby McFerrin, Susana Baca, Lalah Hathaway, Laura Mvula, Jacob Collier, Musiq Soul Child, Chris Potter, Lionel Loueke, Carlos Malta, Miss Dynamite and The Metropole Orchestra.
Eric Hirsh Quartet: Pianist and composer Eric Hirsh can play pretty much anything you throw at him. When he’s not leading his jazz quartet (Aaron Hill on saxophone, Peter Kimosh on bass, and Stephen Coffman on drums), he’s helping drive the progressive hip-hop of The Beast or the salsa shake of Orquesta GarDel. His original compositions have a propulsive thrust that combines a minimalist drive with the complex, expressive melodies. He’s one of the area’s best.”
