Last weekend many came together to celebrate Chris McAllister in a small backyard gathering. The rocker who is known for cutting leads with Second Helping, The Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute Band and Mimic Band turned 60. The highlight of the night was listening to so many sweet and talented friends gather to sing. Harmonies were worked out and songs played throughout the evening.
In the mix of my company, there was Laura McAllister, Fleeta Griffith, Vinnie Farro who not only offered many songs, but also cooked for the gathering as well. Ann Marie Farro, Scott Carlisle, Dan Jam Phillips, Deborah Shillito, Tom Spellman, Fairlight Moriah, Gary and Tracey Brenneman and many more turned out for the fun time and music filled backyard birthday gala.
It was planned that I would speak of the party and then invite many out for a night of musical fun with Dan Jam Phillips, unfortunately due to high winds in New Bern, music at Circa 1810 Bar & Restaurant at the Harvey Mansion was canceled for the second evening this weekend.
It was a nice treat to catch up with Andrew Kasab, while he was in town last weekend for his show, at Circa 1810 Bar & Restaurant at the Harvey Mansion. Music was offered inside the bar by the solo artist, who spends most of the year on the road touring with his Harp Guitar. He is one of only five artists endorsed by the guitar creator and he keeps busy offering his songs and playing familiar favorites for fans and friends alike.
To have a listen to his music and to keep up with the artist you can find his music and schedule on his ReverbNation page by following this link:
It was another rocking Tuesday night in New Bern with Local Band Tuesday, returning for its third week at Live at The City Laundry, 901 Pollock Street, New Bern, NC. Last week featured three acts based in New Bern, NC.
This week featured the opening set of solo artist Tommy Duzan Sr. I happened to miss his set, but you can hear the talented player each day as he offers music from 11 am til 2 pm during the lunch rush. Live at The City Laundry has a new chef, offering a new menu that starts with a delicious lunch offering. You are encouraged to check out the new tasty offerings and enjoy the live music offered daily by Duzan.
It has been quite a long day since I saw these two brothers jam, but on Tuesday, brothers Ted and Thom Gerad. Many years ago these jamming brothers were in a band called Todd and The Termites. Fast forward to the present day, the brothers are back at it and rocking hard with this new project.
Based out of New Bern, the trio offers Ted on guitar and vocals, Shem on bass and backing vox, and Thom on drums and helping on vocals. They are an original band with a solid rock sound, looking for more opportunities to play. They are looking for new ground to conquer and new territories to explore. They are looking for venues between New Bern and Raleigh and are willing to head South to Wilmington and Myrtle Beach even.
For those interested in a steady rock band with a heavier groove be sure to check them out on Facebook:
Peacnik was the final hometown band to take the stage on Tuesday, for Local Band Tuesday.
The first thing I noted about this outfit is, that there was not much peace flowing from the screaming guitar amp. If you enjoy the harsh tones of heavy guitar leads then this is a great band to see. Neil Vendrick is not messing around when he takes to the stage. The man pours raw unfiltered emotion into his playing, as he attempts to make ears bleed. Joining Vendrick on stage this past Tuesday was Matt Holman on drums and Chris Buttita on bass.
To keep up with news and the whereabouts of this band be sure to give their page a like on Facebook by following this link:
