On Friday night it was the long-awaited EP Release for Bearfoot Monty. The local rock band with roots that grew in the soil here, offered a great night of music with three acts coming together to celebrate this special occasion. The six-song EP will now be available at shows and you can find it on Spotify and Itunes too.
Opening the night was Myself and I, followed by a performance from the energetic Thick Modine and closing out the night and rocking the room was the rockin quartet we know and love.
Bearfoot Monty came together just over a year and a half ago when singer-songwriter and guitarist Justin Hargett approached singer and bass player Gabrielle Christy about forming a band. Since then they have enlisted the smooth and psychedelic guitar works of Jimmy Hawkins and the backbeat of Dallas Allen on drums. Their music is rock based with inspirations of blues and indie sounds blended for a unique mix.
On Saturday night Live at The City Laundry welcomed Justin Castellano to the stage for an extraordinary night of guitar madness. I happened to stop out with Fairlight, and before the night was out the two belted some blues to appease the crowd. Castellano will be back in town next Sunday, February 18, 2018, for a performance on the patio at Circa 1810 from 5-8 pm.
Live at The City Laundry located at 901 Pollock St, New Bern, NC offers a variety of live entertainment. The final show I caught last week was Under the Gun. This rockin’ quartet traveled from High Point, NC to New Bern to play under the tent for music fans that gathered. The four-piece band offered lots of great music to keep the crowd lively and dancing. They will be back to play for us again soon but until their return in a few months, become familiar with them by checking out and liking them on Facebook:
There has been much music and work with Fairlight Moriah, who spent last Saturday afternoon at rehearsal in Chocowinity, NC, with a band that will be offering a private performance for Valentine’s Day at a local Country Club. The event is a member only event, but let me tell you, the members are lucky in love this Valentine’s Day, with the sounds of Jazz, Blues, and even some Beach music added for the dancers that come to dinner.
I happened to enjoy hearing Fairlight belt out some jazz sounds. She nailed it on all songs and the other band members were also impressed with the talent they signed up to work with. Three of the players in this quartet are actually players in The East Coast Rhythm & Blues Band.
In other developments, the singer is booked for another performance on Music Monday. She will be live again with Vinny Farro on Monday, April 9, 2018. You can tune in to Thunder Country 96.3 FM to listen to her live on that date from 8:30 – 9 AM.
Just before that show airs, she will make her debut performance with her band Fairlight & The Scorpio Moon, live at Circa 1810 Bar & Restaurant at The Harvey Mansion, 221 S Front St., New Bern, NC. That show is scheduled for April 6, 2018, from 8-11 pm.
