Starting things to the North over in Greenville you can catch The Roman Sams live on stage at AJ McMurphy’s tonight. They will be kicking it from 9:30 pm til 12:30 am. This is a fun rock cover band with Samantha Holland at the helm and a strong backbone of a band makes for fun times and good grooving. AJ McMurphy’s is located at 1914 Turnbury Dr., Greenville, NC
Also taking place in Greenville tonight you can find The Southern Belles and The Fritz live tonight on the bill at Crossbones Tavern, located at 114 E 5gth St., Greenville NC. Music starts at 11 pm and rocks til closing at 2 am.
I am always inspired by young talent. Over in lil Washington, NC there is a Smoke on the Water BBQ Festival taking place today and on the bill from 3-5 pm you can enjoy the grooves of Caroline Dare. This young artist will capture you with her talent and when you learn she is just 15 it takes a little time for the mind to catch up. She impressed me over a year ago when I met her and watched her perform solo at Barn Bash an annual benefit for Promise Place. Last week I had the pleasure of catching her with a full band behind her when she opened for Bryan Mayer at Triple Play Restaurant for their 3rd Anniversary Celebration. Here are a few pics from that night last week:
Best way to sum it up, she has the soul of an old wise country gal, and the presence of an angel with a voice to match. Check her out if you care to keep an eye on the up and coming talent from our region.
Speaking of up an coming talent in our region, looking around the Fayetteville area there is a quadruple bill of original music on deck for tonight at The Twisted Kitty located at 2918 Fort Bragg Rd., Fayetteville, NC. The Willie Painter Band will be live on stage tonight from 8-11 pm. This is a house for blues and a great support for live music. They feature local as well as national acts on their stage and offer live entertainment seven nights a week. That is what I am talking about! Hat’s off to the owner Bill and his amazing staff and family for doing things right! Check out The Blue Note Grill anytime you roll through the RDU area! Tonights show is $8.00 for admission and music plays from 8-11 pm.

Dance the night away! Playing a mix of danceable blues with a nod towards swinging jazz and an eclectic selection of rock and pop tunes, the Willie Painter Band consists of four veterans of the Triangle music scene.
Willie Painter (guitar) and Craig Dittmar (bass) were members of the Boomers, who played for over 20 years in the Triangle and eastern North Carolina. Painter wrote a monthly music column for the Urban Hiker from 1999 to 2004.
Bill Newton (saxophone, harmonica) is a founding member of two Triangle musical institutions: Rebecca and the Hi-Tones and Bill Newton’s Big Blues Quartet. He has recorded with the Indigo Girls and Big Mama E and the Cool, among others.
John Hanks (drums) is the music director for Duke University dance program. He is also a longtime music faculty for the American Dance Festival (ADF), traveling with them to China in 2012 and 2014. A life long resident of Durham, NC, he has been in many bands including: the Hard times Jazz band, the swamis, Rebecca and the Hitones, black dog syndrome, and the Philidor Percussion Group.
