The NC State Fair is taking place over the next week and tonight you can catch Matt Phillips live on stage from 5 – 8 pm. For all the details on this year’s events check out the link


Since we are talking about Festivals might as well tell you about the Havelock Chili Festival kicking off tonight and going through the day tomorrow. To keep up with the latest news and to find out more check out their page on Facebook by clicking this link:

Tonight One Lane Bridge will perform live  from 5 – 8 pm. Tomorrow you can catch Scott Shelby and Rob Lightner of SteelTownCowboy at Walter B Jones Park. They get rocking with their grooves at 1:30 pm.

The duo also have a couple of shows lined up at The Royal James Cafe located at 117 Tuner St, Beaufort. You can catch them tonight and tomorrow night from  9 pm til 1 am.


4EverAll are live tonight at Cru Bar & Wine Store located at 120 Turner Street, Beaufort, NC. They are a fun duo who play off each other quite well and deliver classics that make you want to dance and groove with your sweetie! And why not? It is time to weekend! They can be heard live from 8:30-11:30 pm.

Around Town, New Bern


Blues duo Big Jim & Kathleen Kohler will be belting out their songs in front of The Black Cat Shoppe on Middle St from 5-8 pm.



Dan Jam with Dan Phillips and Friends is going down tonight at The Brown Pelican from 5-8 pm. The Dirty Bird is located at 411 Broad Street, New Bern. Come on out during ArtWalk and enjoy a cocktail and some great tunes from Dan and friends!


For those in it for the Art, this Art Walk, stop in at StarDust Gallery located at 224 Middle Street, New Bern where you can take in the works of the Survivors Knights Art Exhibit. These pieces were all created by the hands of the hurting. Please stop in and check out what comforts these healers.


While strolling along Middle Stree be sure to stop in at Bank of The Arts and enjoy all of the works out on display there as well.

ArtWalk is a fun experience that takes place on the second Friday of each month from 5 pm til 8 pm. There is live music throughout the streets and in the bars. Also, there is lots of live art to take in as well. Be sure to stroll the scenic town and take in as much of the culture as you can. Following  ArtWalk there is lots of music for listeners to enjoy…

Some of the acts being featured around town tonight include the following:

Paid Time Off will be on stage at the Thirsty Bruin located at 224 Middle Street. If you have not caught this talented father daughter duo, you will be pleased when you do. They offer many classics and they blend harmonies and mesh measures on their six strings like few families do. Be sure to stop in and enjoy their set tonight. They will be performing from 8-11 pm.



When Fools Rush In will be performing live at Rivertowne Ballroom located at 305 Pollock Street. If you like tradional Swing and Jazz music, this is the place to go after ArtWalk.Tickets are $10 and you can bring your own bottle of wine or cooler of beer. This is a fun time and the room sounds grand! Show time is 8 -11 pm.


The City Laundry located at 901 Pollock St, New Bern, offers Music After ArtWalk each month and this month you can enjoy the sounds of Blue Frequency opening for The Dick Richards. Tickets for this show are available at the door for $5.00. Music starts at 8 and goes until 11 pm.



There is no shortage of things to do across the bridge tonight either. First up you can check out one of the most eccentric guitar players I have ever had the pleasure to see in these parts. Mr. Justin Castellano is in town and bringing his grooves to BrÜtopia located at 1201 Highway 70 E New Bern. He will be jamming from 7-10 pm.



Live tonight at Triple Play Restaurant located at 111 Williams Road, New Bern; you can enjoy the sounds of two great country bands. Caroline Dare starts things off early from 6-9 pm and Bryan Mayer will finish out the night with his rocking country set from 9 til closing. The last time I saw these two acts together it was at last year’s Barn Bash. It will be wonderful to hear them again!


Well it looks like I will be getting up early to deliver your options for tomorrow, since now it is time to WEEKEND! Please party responsibly and be kind to all you meet. Please tip your servers and bartenders and don’t forget to give some green to the music makers that move you. Life is too short to be anything but kind and generous!
