Dan Jam Phillips offered friends and fans his mid-week re-boot from the stage at the newly renovated City Stage. Joining Phillips this week for the jam session was Tank Wetherington, who offered the electric accompaniment on strings as Phillips offered the acoustic sounds and vocals.
Phillips offered this mid-week reboot for several weeks this month, in case you missed it. He was accompanied by a talented friend each week. On Wednesday, August, 8 he was found rocking the room with Alan Gleason. The following week he brought in the second member of the Dan Jam Band, Scott Carlisle. This week we met Wetherington. Next week and for the next couple, Phillips is off, but keep it here to find out where he will rock you next!
When not running around the behind the scenes, doing all the tasks it takes to make things happen… whether those tasks entail management, waiter, host or clean-up crew at the new City Stage, John Van Dyke always shines brightest when you find him on stage.
He can be found there in many forms, always offering pieces of a well-lived soul and one with tales to tell. An actor, an entertainer, a singer a bandleader, Van Dyke is living his dream these days and still finding time to perform. Catch him on Wednesdays at the City Stage from 7-9:30 pm offering Songs From an American Song Book. He gives you the standards and delivers the fun show tunes you love.
In the spur of the moment, Adam Hill was scheduled to perform with the band on the patio last Saturday, but due to scheduling conflicts and managerial changeovers, we finally got things straight and canceled Hill at the Harvey and served The Hot Buttered Grits in his place. Once Hill connected with the new manager, he was asked to perform on the balcony the following Wednesday. Hill accepted and offered a great night of music on the back balcony at Circa 1810.
I personally enjoyed the surprise of Hill in New Bern during the week and spending time with the love of his life, Tracey Turner!
