Kicking in the holiday season with Hank Barbee

℘℘℘Last Saturday I found music in new and unusual places. The first show took place in the grocery store. The second show was one that I set up at the Community Center at Fairfield Harbour.

Harris Teeter Moves into the Biggest Store in Company History

On Saturday afternoon the new Harris Teeter hosted an afternoon of music, featuring the talents of Greg Lilley on guitar and vocals and Dave Vergato on bass. The duo hails from the Charlotte region and are lifelong music makers. Lilley told me this is his second stretch of making a living with music. Now in his 12th year as a full time music maker, he is a music maker an instructor, as well as a performer, working as a drummer in a band and a strummer when flying solo or with a duo.

The duo was hired to play many of the Harris Teeter Stores. In fact, they perform at six store locations. The night before arriving in New Bern, they were at the second largest Harris Teeter, which is located in Charlotte, NC.

The duo was set up in the new bar area, where every seat was filled. The bar offers a variety of beers and wines. In between breaks they gave away prizes including bottles of wine and a guitar!

Hank Barbee and the Dust Parade Come  to Fairfield with Holiday Cheer

On Saturday night , Tracey Stones Productions and NCMZ.LIVE offered a holiday show for the fine folks of Fairfield Harbour, featuring the holiday sounds of Hank Barbee and The Dust Parade.

It was a fun night of neighbors dancing the night away to the classic Christmas songs and awesome original songs found on his two available CDs.

You can find the bands’s music on Spotify, Itunes and everywhere else you buy music or visit the band website at

Mail Drop

I received a beautiful Christmas card from the talented Oliver Family and included inside the card was a brand new CD. Strung By the Chimney With Care offers 14 holiday selections by the family band, Strung Together.

I found it interesting that the disc started out without any strings at all.  “Ding-a Ding-a Ding” is an acapella number. But by the second song the strings are all accounted for with the banjo starting things off for the song “Angels We Have Heard on High”

All of the compositions on this disc are beautiful songs for this season. The disc was recorded at TeraNote Studios in Morehead City, NC.
