Saturday Starts with a Pause for a Cause
I caught up with The Adam Hill Band on Saturday afternoon. The trio of rockers was on hand to perform, following a poker run that honored the life of Jay Roberts.
The band rocked the stage at Rena J’s on Wilmington Highway, Jacksonville, NC. They welcomed riders at the end of the run and took a pause for the spreading of Robert’s ashes. The Last Ride for the lost brother offered memories and music, food and more.
The band offered a good variety of rock and southern rock favorites, while mixing in their own awesome originals. It has been a while since I caught up with the trio! But when I finally did, I learned that drummer Cecil Pittman
The idea which appeals most to Pittman is finding a room and working the sound for their music events. If you have a music venue and you often thought about providing a house sound and lights operation, consider reaching out to Pittman. You can reach him by phone by dialing 910-990-5278.
For fans and friends of the Adam Hill Band, the band will be rocking the beach tomorrow. Come enjoy a Wilmington NC night and take in the sounds of this rocking trio at Bourbon Street Wilmington. Music starts at 9 pm.
Here’s a clip from last weekend’s memorial benefit. This is an original, “Full House.”

Back In The Bern We Boogie
Caffeinated Soul Boogie poured out the grooves at BrUtopia last Saturday night, to usher in their 2019 music season. The New Bern based band is looking forward to spreading out this year and bringing their show to more people around the region.
The band is currently booking the 2019 calendar. They are available for regular pub shows, festivals, private parties and community event. The quartet features a father/daughter team that got started in the church, carried on in coffee shops and continues to grow and expand their audience and repertoire.
To get to know the band better please visit the band’s website:

The Dust Settles at The Dirty Bird
The band opened the night with some newer, soon to be recorded original music. After we got comfortable and in the mood, they offered brand new material for all to enjoy. (I consider it brand new if I never heard it!!!) I was glad to be in the room, ready to record. Here is Day of Decay by The Dust Parade.
The Wilmington based band played to a full house of fans, that have missed their surf sounds. It has been a few months since the band played around town. They have been busy playing around the region and doing their part in raising funds and awareness for Hurricane Relief for the many areas affected by Florence.
Making up beats last week were Hank Barbee on vocals and guitar, Jim Durham offered supporting vocals and saxophone; Matt Henderson played the bass and filling in on drums was, The Spread’s own Will Phetterplace.
Tonight the Dusty Trio featuring Barbee, Durham, and Henderson will be rocking the Crystal Coast. More on that below, but to keep up with this fun and fabulously creative band visit http://www.hankbarbee.com

TrainWreck Pulls into Blackbeard’s
On Saturday night, TrainWreck pulled into the station to groove the folks on the deck at Blackbeard’s Triple Play Restaurant. The Greenville based band with New Bern roots, always brings the party.
This band has a long history of rocking the region with funky pop tunes that everyone knows and loves. They come out in many formations. Sometimes they offer dueling horns while other nights they feature two lead singers. If you have not checked in with them lately, make it a point to rock with them soon.

Open Mic Madness in Newport Makes Monday Less Mundane
On Monday night I headed out to Shortway Brewing Co. in Newport, NC to enjoy the maple stout and open mic night. This great community beer stop offers many flavors of beer, brewed on site in their brew room. The family-owned operation puts community first and opens the floor to local singer-songwriters on the second and fourth Monday of each week.
This week I enjoyed the sounds of Wiregrass, the bluegrass band featuring Pat and Brian Till, who will be at Courtyards at Berne Village in New Bern tomorrow afternoon, offering songs to residence from 1-3 pm.
I also got to catch up with blog supporters, Phillip Canelos (pictured above) and Ashton Ward as well. Both offered several acoustic selections for the crowd to enjoy. Before the night ended we also enjoyed the music of Steve Mehan and a few numbers courtesy of Mackenzie Webb
