About the band:
Winners of the 2021 MerleFest Band Competition, Into The Fog is a genre-jumping string band based out of Raleigh, North Carolina. With its members having various backgrounds ranging from bluegrass, country, rock, to funk, Into The Fog creates a musical melting pot of sounds in an acoustic/newgrass setting. The band is made up of Brian Stephenson(Guitar, Vocals), Winston Mitchell(Mandolin, Vocals), Derek Lane(Bass, Vocals) and Will Maxwell(Fiddle, Vocals).

Originally formed in Wilmington, NC, Into The Fog immediately hit the ground running as a band by heading across the country to compete at the 2018 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition only a few months after coming together. That cross country trip was recorded by friend of the band and videographer Mason Godwin in his documentary Band #7:The Ride to Telluride.

After the Telluride trip, the band got to work playing as much as they could around North Carolina. Becoming a mainstay at over 30 different breweries around the state Into The Fog started to quickly make a name for themselves. Then in November of 2018 the band went to a cabin outside of Waynesville, NC and spent a week recording their debut album Wishin’ It Would Rain, which was released on February 22, 2019.

With their debut album under their belt Into The Fog started to pick up momentum exchanging brewery gigs for music venues and festivals with opportunities like playing Shakori Hills, Groove in the Garden, FloydFest, MerleFest, and the NC Homegrown Music Festival along with opening slots for national touring acts Sam Bush, Ghost of Paul Revere, and Jon Stickley Trio. Into The Fog solidified their sound further with their 14 track sophomore album Runnin’ Blind and Chasin’ Time which was released in May of 2021.

A Pegasus Plus Reunion! Pegasus Plus toured the East Coast from Maine to Florida back in the late 70’s and early 80’s. In the last few years, they have opened for Nantucket at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, and played a reunion gig at the State Theater in Greenville.
All the members are still active in their own performance endeavors:

Jason Patterson, who was on in the Columbia Records band, "Cry of Love” touring the USA and abroad with Robert Plant, Aerosmith, ZZ Top and others and had nationally charting records. He has also been performing with Nantucket since the 90's, and now also performs all over the country with Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band, "Tuesday's Gone".

JK Loftin, lifelong musician/guitarist/recordist, performing now with Steve Owens & Summertime, formerly with Gary Lowder & Smokin' Hot, formerly with Mark Roberts & Breeze and 4 years with the Craig Woolard Band. Prior to that 14 years with Heart & Soul of Wilmington, N.C. 1982-89 Lahnn and Loftin with Charles Laughon. 1971-1976 and again from 1978-1981 with the rock band Pegasus from Greenville, N.C. Prior to that 1969-1971 with Bill Lyerly in the Soulsations and Medusa. 1966-1969 with the Atlantic Coast Show. 1966 with the Creations which morphed into the Atlantic Coast Show.

Bill Joyner, has continued playing keyboard and guitar in many bands. He is currently performing with Beatle People, a Beatles tribute band.

David Stover, who has played with many of the best bands in the area. David also filled in as bass player for Nazareth for a couple of months when their regular bass player was unable to complete a US tour.

Martin Bissell, played with Nightwyng out of GA from '76-'79 and while living near Daytona Beach FL. Looking for a new gig, Bissell approached Pegasus Plus. Learning they needed a guitar player/singer, Bissell and the band played their way back to Greenville. Post Pegasus, Bissell played 5 years in the Florida Keys with NY band Case & Davidson

About Tan and Sober Gentlemen

Born and raised in the North Carolina backcountry, The Tan and Sober Gentlemen began taking in the songs, stories, and tunes that make up their beloved state's heritage before they could talk. Despite having played music together in some form or another for most of their lives, the current lineup was formed in the summer of 2016. Past performances range from the Cat's Cradle, Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival, Appaloosa Festival, and IBMA's World of Bluegrass in the States to Spraoi Festival, Whelan's, and the Roisin Dubh in Ireland.

The band aims to explore the Gaelic roots of North Carolinian music, and to play it with as much energy as humanly possible. Tan and Sober hangs their hat on the fact that, no matter the venue or the crowd, their live show will have the audience engaged, smiling, and drenched with sweat. As far as folk music goes, they're about the best drinking and dancing band you'll find.

About Dylan Walshe

International touring & recording artist Dylan Walshe was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. Dylan went on to hone his craft as a solo acoustic performer in London, then Europe, before eventually moving to Nashville, where he currently resides. Since taking up residency in Nashville, Dylan has been billed alongside many pioneers in music, as well as headlining tours around much of the US, Europe and the UK. Dylan has toured with artists as diverse as Flogging Molly, The White Buffalo & Avatar. Primarily a singer-songwriter, Dylan also sings traditional songs of the working classes and reinterprets a wide spectrum of songs in his own inimitable style. No Depression wrote, "His voice is so strong and expressive, at once so holy and damned it can shake heaven and hell simultaneously. This suggests the old soul of a true roots artist, to be sure."

While Dylan mostly identifies as a folk and roots singer-songwriter, his solo acoustic performances have also been brought to punk, ska, Celtic and heavy metal audiences throughout his 25 years of performing. With his most recent album of original compositions, All Manner Of Ways (featuring James Fearnley of The Pogues), there is a depth and timelessness in his writing and voice that is largely absent from the music of most contemporary artists. But we will need some help with the booth. Several folks have volunteered to help out in the morning, but we could use some help late morning and afternoon. We will be setting up in Union Point Park around 8:30am, and the event is open to the public at 10. I expect we will be breaking down the booth around 3 (at the latest). 📢Step out and support men who have been silenced in domestic violence. This event has been created to better advocate for men in domestic violence relationships and situations. Society has made us numb to the idea that a man can not be abused and in fact it is their fault as men that they are abused verbally, emotionally, & physically. Power and control dynamics are gender neutral. The behavior manifests in all genders relatively the same way and often uses the same tactics. Men rarely come forward for help. Gender socialization of males in our society shuns weakness or even the appearance of weakness.
We want to raise awareness for men & women who might be suffering from abuse in any relationship.
Onslow County Women’s Center of Jacksonville NC will be a main resource at our event. Although their name only involves “Women” they also house men and have detailed brochures for men on how to properly escape a situation involving children or someone without children .

The Roll-A-Thon will have a $20 entrance fee and all proceeds will go to Onslow County Women’s center. We hope it will provide the community with more resources specifically for men!
There will be healthy snacks & water for free. Please come out and support Professor Tulsa and many others who stayed in the dark in fear of what their life would be like after leaving an abusive situation .
You may be the one that makes a difference in someone’s life.
This event is open to all ages and is kid friendly. If you don’t do Jiu Jitsu you can still come and support.

After her debut performance in 2021, Charlotte Besley is returning to Cherry Tree Wood for the East Finchley Festival on Sunday 19th June!

This time, she'll be joined by 4 other musicians to elevate her set of country-pop covers and originals.

Funky Geezer or Woody Williams is a Charlotte native. Woody got his first guitar around 6 years old and never put it down, As a teen he played in many local Bands and played music while in the Army back in the 60's. Woody has written over 700 songs in many genres, He did Radio Theme songs & Commercial Jingles .
After he retired from the graphics world he dusted off his guitar & keyboard a few years ago to create Funky Geezer.
He did many shows for resorts and a variety of venues. He now tours locally and enjoys music more than ever in his senior years. With over a million hits on Youtube, and appearances on America's Got Talent, CMA Awards, and Comedy Zone TV shows his prowess is wide spread and he has a loyal fan base.

This jam is open to all musicians, not only beginners! It is a learning jam, though, to help those who are still learning the basics of bluegrass music and playing with other musicians. It is open to participants of all ages and abilities. This is a great opportunity for participants to learn basic jam etiquette before jumping into a traditional jam. We'll spend the first hour playing together in a single large group, stopping frequently to discuss the songs. The second hour, we like to break off into two smaller groups and put our new jam skills into practice!

Facilitator Jef Walter is a local musician who plays with Hank Smith & the Beer & Banjos All-Stars (every Tuesday at The Raleigh Times Bar) and other groups; he also mentors The Loblollies youth bluegrass band.

Joe Troop is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter hailing originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The founder of GRAMMY-nominated stringband Che Apalache, Joe’s music is deeply inspired by his decade living in Buenos Aires and traveling throughout Latin America. When the pandemic unexpectedly landed him back in North Carolina, he spent 2020 learning direct action from stalwart organizers. In 2021 he channeled that energy into his homecoming album Borrowed Time. The record was co-produced with Jason Richmond (The Avett Brothers, Branford Marsalis) and features luminaries like Béla Fleck (who produced Che Apalache’s GRAMMY-nominated album), Abigail Washburn, Tim O’Brien, and Charlie Hunter, but the visceral songwriting and fine-crafted instrumentals speak for themselves. Joe's music reflects both his time spent living abroad as well as his upbringing in the North Carolina Piedmont. Now based in Durham, he leads various ensembles, which play his original music. Joe has also most recently partnered with powerhouse Venezuelan folk music legend Larry Bellorín. The duo is on a mission to show that music has no borders and is already touring extensively.

Jam sessions featuring standards, Latin, jazz blues, even some funky stuff! Relaxed and all for fun in a judgement-free zone!  Players and listeners of all skill levels welcome.

Based in Brooklyn, NY.

Tennis Courts is an indie-rock band led by songwriting duo Patrick Walsh and Andrew Clarke. The pair met while attending college in Charleston, South Carolina and began writing songs together soon after. Inspired by everything from indie rock bands of the 2000s to folk singers of the 1960s, the group spent their formative years developing their sound in a live setting. Along with former members Coleman Gould and Bryce Gothier, the band hit the scene in early 2019 and slowly but surely made a name for themselves as one of Charleston’s most exciting up-and-coming bands.

The group’s take on indie rock eventually caught the attention of producer and local legend, Mark Bryan of Hootie & The Blowfish. After sitting in on a practice at the band’s rehearsal space, Mark invited to band to record at his home studio in Awendaw, SC. Recording began in March 2020 and was delayed duo to… obvious reasons. Nonetheless, Tennis Courts regrouped in August 2020 and set up a makeshift studio in Patrick’s childhood bedroom, adamant to finish what they started 5 months earlier. Their debut EP ‘Best Regards’ was finally released in January 2021.

After spending the rest of the year hunkered down at home and writing songs, the band returned to the studio in the fall of 2021, this time with producer/engineer Matt Zutell (Susto, Easy Honey, 87 Nights) at Coast Records. Zutell helped Patrick and Clarke further improve their talents as songwriters and explore new sounds and sonic palettes, all while staying true to their indie roots.

After recording wrapped up at Coast Records, the duo packed up their things and relocated to Brooklyn, NY at the beginning of 2022. With a new EP and their first tour on the horizon, the band has big plans for the upcoming year. Whatever happens, Tennis Courts are showing no signs of stopping.

Sonic Blume
Max Connery, Danny Murray and Noah Sullivan met in high school after bonding over music from the likes of MGMT, DIIV, The Smiths, and My Bloody Valentine. They released their self-titled, debut EP in November of 2017, which quickly brought them local recognition. Within a few months, they were playing shows all over New Jersey and received local praise, press coverage, and an Asbury Park Music Award for “Best New Band under 21”. The band finished writing and recording their second EP shortly after and released Beach Karma in July of 2018. Their Beach Karma EP brought the band larger recognition and was celebrated with college and international radio airtime. The EP was listed on You Don’t Know Jersey’s “Best NJ Records of 2018” list, and the band appeared on NJ.com’s “Top Bands to Hear in 2019” and “Top Bands to Hear in 2020.”

This forward momentum led Sonic Blume to signing with Asbury Park’s new independent label Shore Points Records. Sonic Blume’s 2021 debut album “We’re Drifting Further Apart, Aren’t We?” is a collection of songs which create a dreamy world of escapism. The album explores themes of longing, separation, and isolation—sentiments that have become universally understood among artists and live music fans through 2020 and 2021. The album’s high-energy, vocal-centric performances layered with 80s drum machines are a creative leap forward from their previous two EPs. Sean Kayden of EARMILK writes that Sonic Blume have “created a dream-pop world of their own, where their melodic tendencies flow in the direction of an ethereal soundscape to bask within.” He also added that Sonic Blume has “the languidness of early Wild Nothing, the cutesy synth-pop prowess of Craft Spells, and the jangly guitar melodies of Beach Fossils.”

Since late 2021 and throughout 2022, Sonic Blume has been performing live promoting their debut album, supporting artists such as Joe P and Tor Miller. On Valentine’s Day of 2022, they released their newest music video for their album track “Lovers,” which they filmed and edited on their own as an homage to mid 2000s TV commercials and home footage.

For nearly five decades, the Allman Brothers Band performed their unique, soulful, and diverse yet distinctively Southern brand of rock and roll, to the delight of enthusiastic & dedicated fans all over the world. On the evening of October 28, 2014, the band performed for their 238th consecutive sold out crowd at New York’s legendary Beacon Theater, and then laid down their instruments as a collective entity for the final time.

A big part of what led to ABB developing such a successful, beloved following was the rhythmic foundation and motivational force possessed by original drummer and founding member Butch Trucks, who sadly left our Earthly realm far too soon in 2017. His spirit, however, lives on in the hearts and minds of millions of loyal followers, and is now carried forward by the next generation of talented musicians in the family.

The latest full-length from Cordovas, Destiny Hotel is a work of wild poetry and wide-eyed abandon, set to a glorious collision of folk and country and groove-heavy rock-and-roll. In a major creative milestone for the Tennessee-based band—vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Joe Firstman, keyboardist Sevans Henderson, guitarist/vocalist Lucca Soria and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Toby Weaver—the album harnesses the freewheeling energy of their live show more fully than ever, all while lifting their songwriting to a whole new level of sophistication. The result is a batch of songs that ruminate and rhapsodize with equal intensity, inviting endless celebration on the way to transcendence.

Recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Rick Parker (Lord Huron, Beck, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club), Destiny Hotel expands on the harmony-soaked roots rock of Cordovas’ ATO Records debut That Santa Fe Channel, a 2018 release that earned abundant praise from outlets like Rolling Stone and NPR Music. Before heading to L.A., Cordovas spent over three months in their second homebase of Todos Santos (an artist community in Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula), sketching dozens of songs partly sparked from their voracious reading of authors like mythologist Joseph Campbell, poet/novelist Rainer Maria Rilke, and spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle. And when it came time for the recording sessions—a frenetic seven-day stretch squeezed in just before stay-at-home orders took effect in response to the global pandemic—the band methodically eliminated any lyrics they deemed inconsequential.

“We wanted to strike the term ‘want’ from our music—to get rid of all the ‘Baby, baby, baby, I want this, I want that,’ and create something more useful,” says Firstman. “We needed to make sure these were songs we’d be proud to sing forever.”

But while Destiny Hotel unfolds in untold revelations on fear and ego and self-liberation, Cordovas offer up that insight without ever slipping into didacticism. In fact, much of the album radiates utter elation, each moment echoing Cordovas’ band-of-brothers kinship and extraordinary closeness: when they’re not touring the world, taking the stage at leading festivals like Stagecoach, Newport Folk and Pickathon, or hosting their own Tropic of Cancer Concert Series down in Todos Santos, Cordovas spend much of their time practicing in the barn at their communal farm home just outside Nashville. “I can’t imagine that many bands rehearse more than we do,” says Firstman, whose wife and young child also live on the farm. “We’re all here together in this wonderful space, and we’re pretty good about never taking it for granted.”

On the lead single to Destiny Hotel, Cordovas channel their unbridled joy into a soul-soothing call for radical openness. With its references to old country revivals and mid-’60s Dylan, “High Feeling” (which features additional production, guitars & mixing from the Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada and additional backing vocals from the Black Pumas’ touring members Angela Miller and Lauren Cervantes) speaks to the pure euphoria to be found in shaking off whatever binds you (“Open up your heart, let love come through the door/Open up your mind, that’s what it’s for”). “That’s us telling you directly what to do, and hopefully in a way that’s more like Bob Marley than some New Age guy who thinks he’s saving the world because he’s so in tune,” Firstman points out.

That warmth of spirit endures through all of Destiny Hotel, and shines especially bright on songs like “Do More Good”—a sing-along-ready anthem overflowing with love for folk of all kinds (i.e., “The freaks and the prideful/The peaks and the eyefuls/The ones who just wait ’til their dreams are all stifled/Most too afraid to admit they been lied to”). Adorned with delicate piano work and softly rambling harmonies, “Afraid No More” presents a tender pledge to live free of fear. “In every single way, lack of awareness comes down to fear,” says Firstman. “All drugs are fear, and if we’re a worthwhile collective, then we should be helping each other instead of letting each other deteriorate.” As the sweetly scrappy counterpart to that statement, “Fine Life” extols the simple pleasures that light up our everyday existence. “It’s the same character as ‘Afraid No More,’ but this is his peace time,” Firstman notes. “He knows he’s that hippie and weed-smoker at heart, and this is his little prayer of gratitude for the good life he’s got.

In many ways a full-circle moment for Firstman, Destiny Hotel delivers on the promise first glimpsed on his 2003 debut solo album The War of Women (an Atlantic Records-released effort also produced by Parker). “It almost felt like an achievement of sport to come from where I came from and get to Hollywood, write my name on a piece of paper and get this big record deal,” recalls Firstman, who grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. “The music that came out of that time didn’t really feel spiritual to me.” Though his solo album brought such triumphs as opening for Willie Nelson, Firstman soon drifted into a period of what he now describes as deliberate self-sabotage, eventually losing his record deal and landing a gig as music director on “Last Call with Carson Daly.” Along with enabling him to collaborate with the likes of Thundercat and Kamasi Washington—and to build his house in the then-sleepy beach town of Todos Santos—the “Last Call” job led to another life-changing phenomenon. “At the time I was throwing all these parties like Gatsby up in Hollywood, and this thing started happening where people kept leaving me books,” says Firstman. “I’d made it out to this maddening town with vultures around me everywhere, but these angels kept dropping books off—Letters to a Young Poet, Marcel Proust, Eckhart Tolle. All of that brought me to every thought I have now.”

Since forming in 2011, Cordovas have matched their richly layered reflection to a sound that goes straight to the soul. And on Destiny Hotel, the band made a point of intensifying the body-moving power of their music, with Firstman heading to L.A. several days before the start of the recording sessions and working closely with Parker to shape each track’s pulse and groove. The EP was listed on You Don’t Know Jersey’s “Best NJ Records of 2018” list, and the band appeared on NJ.com’s “Top Bands to Hear in 2019” and “Top Bands to Hear in 2020.”

This forward momentum led Sonic Blume to signing with Asbury Park’s new independent label Shore Points Records. Sonic Blume’s 2021 debut album “We’re Drifting Further Apart, Aren’t We?” is a collection of songs which create a dreamy world of escapism. The album explores themes of longing, separation, and isolation—sentiments that have become universally understood among artists and live music fans through 2020 and 2021. The album’s high-energy, vocal-centric performances layered with 80s drum machines are a creative leap forward from their previous two EPs. Sean Kayden of EARMILK writes that Sonic Blume have “created a dream-pop world of their own, where their melodic tendencies flow in the direction of an ethereal soundscape to bask within.” He also added that Sonic Blume has “the languidness of early Wild Nothing, the cutesy synth-pop prowess of Craft Spells, and the jangly guitar melodies of Beach Fossils.”

Since late 2021 and throughout 2022, Sonic Blume has been performing live promoting their debut album, supporting artists such as Joe P and Tor Miller. On Valentine’s Day of 2022, they released their newest music video for their album track “Lovers,” which they filmed and edited on their own as an homage to mid 2000s TV commercials and home footage.

On the evening of October 28, 2014, the band performed for their 238th consecutive sold out crowd at New York’s legendary Beacon Theater, and then laid down their instruments as a collective entity for the final time.

A big part of what led to ABB developing such a successful, beloved following was the rhythmic foundation and motivational force possessed by original drummer and founding member Butch Trucks, who sadly left our Earthly realm far too soon in 2017. His spirit, however, lives on in the hearts and minds of millions of loyal followers, and is now carried forward by the next generation of talented musicians in the family.

The latest full-length from Cordovas, Destiny Hotel is a work of wild poetry and wide-eyed abandon, set to a glorious collision of folk and country and groove-heavy rock-and-roll. In a major creative milestone for the Tennessee-based band—vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Joe Firstman, keyboardist Sevans Henderson, guitarist/vocalist Lucca Soria and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Toby Weaver—the album harnesses the freewheeling energy of their live show more fully than ever, all while lifting their songwriting to a whole new level of sophistication. The result is a batch of songs that ruminate and rhapsodize with equal intensity, inviting endless celebration on the way to transcendence.

Recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Rick Parker (Lord Huron, Beck, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club), Destiny Hotel expands on the harmony-soaked roots rock of Cordovas’ ATO Records debut That Santa Fe Channel, a 2018 release that earned abundant praise from outlets like Rolling Stone and NPR Music. Before heading to L.A., Cordovas spent over three months in their second homebase of Todos Santos (an artist community in Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula), sketching dozens of songs partly sparked from their voracious reading of authors like mythologist Joseph Campbell, poet/novelist Rainer Maria Rilke, and spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle. And when it came time for the recording sessions—a frenetic seven-day stretch squeezed in just before stay-at-home orders took effect in response to the global pandemic—the band methodically eliminated any lyrics they deemed inconsequential.

“We wanted to strike the term ‘want’ from our music—to get rid of all the ‘Baby, baby, baby, I want this, I want that,’ and create something more useful,” says Firstman. “We needed to make sure these were songs we’d be proud to sing forever.”

But while Destiny Hotel unfolds in untold revelations on fear and ego and self-liberation, Cordovas offer up that insight without ever slipping into didacticism. In fact, much of the album radiates utter elation, each moment echoing Cordovas’ band-of-brothers kinship and extraordinary closeness: when they’re not touring the world, taking the stage at leading festivals like Stagecoach, Newport Folk and Pickathon, or hosting their own Tropic of Cancer Concert Series down in Todos Santos, Cordovas spend much of their time practicing in the barn at their communal farm home just outside Nashville. “I can’t imagine that many bands rehearse more than we do,” says Firstman, whose wife and young child also live on the farm. “We’re all here together in this wonderful space, and we’re pretty good about never taking it for granted.”

On the lead single to Destiny Hotel, Cordovas channel their unbridled joy into a soul-soothing call for radical openness. With its references to old country revivals and mid-’60s Dylan, “High Feeling” (which features additional production, guitars & mixing from the Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada and additional backing vocals from the Black Pumas’ touring members Angela Miller and Lauren Cervantes) speaks to the pure euphoria to be found in shaking off whatever binds you (“Open up your heart, let love come through the door/Open up your mind, that’s what it’s for”). “That’s us telling you directly what to do, and hopefully in a way that’s more like Bob Marley than some New Age guy who thinks he’s saving the world because he’s so in tune,” Firstman points out.

That warmth of spirit endures through all of Destiny Hotel, and shines especially bright on songs like “Do More Good”—a sing-along-ready anthem overflowing with love for folk of all kinds (i.e., “The freaks and the prideful/The peaks and the eyefuls/The ones who just wait ’til their dreams are all stifled/Most too afraid to admit they been lied to”). Adorned with delicate piano work and softly rambling harmonies, “Afraid No More” presents a tender pledge to live free of fear. “In every single way, lack of awareness comes down to fear,” says Firstman. “All drugs are fear, and if we’re a worthwhile collective, then we should be helping each other instead of letting each other deteriorate.” As the sweetly scrappy counterpart to that statement, “Fine Life” extols the simple pleasures that light up our everyday existence. “It’s the same character as ‘Afraid No More,’ but this is his peace time,” Firstman notes. “He knows he’s that hippie and weed-smoker at heart, and this is his little prayer of gratitude for the good life he’s got.

In many ways a full-circle moment for Firstman, Destiny Hotel delivers on the promise first glimpsed on his 2003 debut solo album The War of Women (an Atlantic Records-released effort also produced by Parker). “It almost felt like an achievement of sport to come from where I came from and get to Hollywood, write my name on a piece of paper and get this big record deal,” recalls Firstman, who grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. “The music that came out of that time didn’t really feel spiritual to me.” Though his solo album brought such triumphs as opening for Willie Nelson, Firstman soon drifted into a period of what he now describes as deliberate self-sabotage, eventually losing his record deal and landing a gig as music director on “Last Call with Carson Daly.” Along with enabling him to collaborate with the likes of Thundercat and Kamasi Washington—and to build his house in the then-sleepy beach town of Todos Santos—the “Last Call” job led to another life-changing phenomenon. “At the time I was throwing all these parties like Gatsby up in Hollywood, and this thing started happening where people kept leaving me books,” says Firstman. “I’d made it out to this maddening town with vultures around me everywhere, but these angels kept dropping books off—Letters to a Young Poet, Marcel Proust, Eckhart Tolle. All of that brought me to every thought I have now.”

Since forming in 2011, Cordovas have matched their richly layered reflection to a sound that goes straight to the soul. And on Destiny Hotel, the band made a point of intensifying the body-moving power of their music, with Firstman heading to L.A. several days before the start of the recording sessions and working closely with Parker to shape each track’s pulse and groove. In that process, he tapped into the instinctive sense of rhythm he largely attributes to growing up on hip-hop and R&B ba

Tanner Cline and Carter Hayes have grown up together and been best friends since grade school. They started making music and sharing their love of rock n’ roll as early teenagers. Growing up in Dalton, GA, the two stayed busy in the local music scene playing in various bands and with other artists. During their high school years, Tanner began writing songs that he hoped would come to life through a future band that the two would form.

Fast forward a few years: Tanner and Carter headed north to Nashville, TN. They both attended Middle Tennessee State University and were roommates for the entirety of their college careers.

The songs continued to grow, and soon after the two graduated, Sweet Leona was officially born.

The band’s debut single “The Other Way” is available on all streaming platforms.

The barefoot musician has best been described as a "One-Man-Caribbean-Jam-Band". On stage, Wade employs the use of Acoustic and Electric guitars, Bass guitars, Steel Drum, lots of various Percussion, Keyboards, and Kazoos. He is able to play these instruments simultaneously through a process known as "Loop Sampling". This gives the aural illusion that there is more than one musician jamming on stage. His musical style combines elements of Reggae, Rock, Americana and Comedic Country blended into his own original sound.

Staying Busy!
Wade spends most of his time on the road promoting himself and doing the job of a manager, booking agent, and performer. He enjoys traveling and is always looking to play any city, state or country that he has never played in before. He has a strong sense of adventure, a good work ethic, and a laidback attitude that makes him a pleasure to work with. He regularly plays festivals, beach bars, college parties, fun restaurants and occasionally country bars and parties for motorcycle clubs.

There's Always a Story represents a new chapter for Midnight North. Ten stories told through song on their most polished album to date.

Reflecting on the time since their origin, Midnight North is ready to tell the world its story. A group of multi-instrumentalists with songwriting roots in Folk and Americana, Midnight North is a mainstay on the stages of the national touring circuit. Rolling Stone hailed Midnight North as the "Best New Act" in its review of 2018's Peach Music Festival saying the band "takes the best parts of roots music and weaves them into a tapestry of rock and Americana."

Grahame Lesh, Elliott Peck, & Connor O'Sullivan began playing together in San Francisco. In early 2012 they played their first show as Grahame Lesh & Friends. Grahame & Elliott both brought a repertoire of original music to this new project that was a perfect marriage once the band began performing in earnest. In late 2012 the band went into the studio for the first time, tracking the entirety of their debut album End of the Night in just 2 days. End of the Night (mixed & produced by Connor) was released in June 2013 as they officially debuted the name Midnight North.

The band began touring in June 2015, with the release of their second album Scarlet Skies. That began a five year run as a touring band, playing in 36 states in front of thousands of people across the country. They released Under the Lights, their most successful studio album to date, in summer 2017. "Across all of the tracks, when you think you have the band pegged for a style or a genre, all of a sudden a chorus, or a new solo or new instrument altogether, diverts the music boldly but smartly to a new sound and feel," said The Poke Around in their review of Under the Lights. They also released two live albums including 2018's Selections From the Great American Music Hall which featured Bob Weir & Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead plus members of Twiddle as special guests.

A pivotal moment for the band came when Grahame met drummer Nathan Graham at a benefit show in Philadelphia in 2016. A month later Nathan sat in with the band for a show, eventually joining the band for their longest tour to date in the Spring of 2017. Bringing on the well seasoned drummer as a full-time member of the band (and learning about his banjo playing, singing, and song-writing skills) represented the next step forward as plans were made to record their fourth studio album.

In January 2020, the band went into a California studio with producer David Simon-Baker to craft their fourth studio album, There's Always a Story, released in 2021 on Americana Vibes. As the world shut down in March and the band quarantined separately around the country, the album was finished remotely in California and Pennsylvania. As the months ticked by they let the rest of the newly written & recorded songs sink into their consciousness so that when work resumed on the album in June the entire album became even better than they could have hoped.

2022 and beyond is a new beginning, and while Midnight North longingly looks ahead, hand-in-hand with the rest of the world, There's Always a Story will serve as a collective and reflective narrative.

The event in the heart of Camp Greene will have live art, food and beverage, and multicultural creative scenes into an outdoor extravaganza. Artists from Charlotte and surrounding counties will gather with locals to safely take to the outdoors and celebrate the life of Charlotte through the arts. Electrifying performances, mural paintings, and food trucks are a part of the many activities for the festival.

Summerstock is the brainchild of our own Cynthia Harrison of Health Empowerment Renewal, known as “H.E.R.”, a Non-Profit 501 (c) 3 Organization. Our organization’s mission is to address, educate, and coordinate health promotion; not only to encompass actions directed at strengthening the basic life skills and capacities of individuals, but to also influence underlying socioeconomic conditions and physical environments that impact one’s health.
